I have this friend... she's great and i couldn't ask for a better one, only ...she has major anger issues!
She'll be fine one moment, laughing and chatting happily, then suddenly she'll change and lash out at me - even if i've done nothing wrong.
She is getting help, although I can't say it's doing her much good.
I love her to bits and i know it's an extremely difficult problem for her to have. But am i selfish in the way that sometimes i just want to get away from her because she winds me up? I just don't know how to deal with her when she changes, it upsets me when she becomes violent towards me when i'm trying my hardest to help her.
Any body have any ideas as to what i can say, or do to clam her, or just help her out?
thanks :)

I know many people with anger management issues, and I have even been such a person at one point in my life....I empathize with all of them, but this brings to mind one immutable truth: I care about what's going on with you up to the point where you become violent. Beyond that, I don't give a damn about what you're going through. I don't hit my friends, and they certainly don't hit me. I'm not obligated to see them through that type of difficulty, and the only thing a person who hits me will be concerned with afterwards will be receiving competent medical treatment for their multiple wounds. Don't even get started with trying to solve that dilemma; that's a personal cross to bear that only they can address...it's their responsibility and totally their problem.
