i would always record like songs on sound recorder, and it only had 60 seconds. after asking so many people i never got my answers as to how to make it longer, so i dont think you can. however what i did was watch when the timer gets to like 57-59 seconds and be ready to click record again right as it stops. its a pain to do, but its the only way i know of making it longer.

I use it all the time, it's a hassle, but here's what I do -you have to make an intial "dummy" recording for the length of time you want, just allow it to record the full 60sec, then start recording again from that point another 60sec, you have to do this a few times to increase the time to more than 3 mins -when you get it to the desired length bring the needle back to the beginning and you'll be able to record alot more at one go.
*also if you "open" that same file, record something new over-top, then "save as", you can make unlimited recordings using the much longer length as a template -I hope that made sense. good luck

Freind you cannot record audios more than 60 seconds in Sound Recorder. You have to open Windows Movie Maker instead. After opening it click on TOOLS in the tab menu at the top. Then select Narrate Timeline. Then you can start recording by clicking Start Narration.

There are several options for this. Movie maker has a voice recording part. You can use media player as well. Winamp will do this and many others are available. voice recorder was not meant for music and does a very poor job of recording music.
Look around and investigate your computer.
