My mom was watching my 2 year old daughter yesterday. When I got home from work my daughter was screaming and my mom claimed she didn't know what happened. Well I saw little blisters on her hand so its obvious she burned herself somewhere. My mom says maybe it was from a pan when she was cooking. (I know my moms irresponsible as hell you don't have to tell me...I don't think I'll be leaving the baby with her ever again). But I called the doctor,he told me to keep it clean and put neosporin on it. But today the blisters seem to be worse. What should I do? Can this be normal??

Call your doctor again and get a little more advice (or reassurance). And even if you don't ask your Mom to watch your daughter again (prob. wise), forgive her failings. She's your daughter's grandmother after all.

It is is can be. I do not know the extent of the burns, but if they where normal blisters, they may be infected. All bacteria needs in a micro second to get into an open wound. I don't know why your mom didn't put an neosporin one it, and in this respect I agree that your mom is irresponsible. If it is infected, it can be very bad, especially for a small child. You should get her seen by her doctor if you haven't already. If he says that it is normal, then it is probably just swelling, and it can be this to. You should be very concerned if she strikes a fever, or shows other symptoms of infection like chills, ect. Try putting ice on it. If it reduces, it was probably just swelling, but your there can still be an infection. You should get your daughter checkout out by a doctor not only for an infection, but also to let him look at the burns, and he might prescribe a treatment that will make them heal faster. And it sounds like your mother may have done this on purpose. And also, next time, don't have your doctor diagnose over the phone. He can tell if this was on purpose or not. Do NOT let your mother by that child unless you are there again!

The doctor should NOT have diagnosed this over the phone. You DON'T cover a blistered burn with an ointment. Take your child to another doctor or the emergency room immediately to have it evaluated and to avoid infection. IF IT IS BLISTERED, IT IS A 2ND DEGREE BURN and can easily become infected and scar. Keep the wound out of direct sunlight. Keep the wound clean with basic mild soap and water and cover with gauze but no ointment until actually SEEN by a doctor. Go now!

Leave the blisters alone and do what the doctor says. Keep it clean and put a bandage over the area. Your mom needs a therapist. What happened with your mom is child abuse and your mom needs help. I would NEVER leave my child with her again.

Blisters can be caused by burns from fire, cleaning agents, grease. Is it red around the blister, how big are they?
