I only visited Krakow for one day and night, and Warsaw for one day. They were both interesting and pretty. I would like to spend more time there. The only problem I had was I arrived about 9 in the morning in Krakow on an overnight train from Budapest, so I went to the hotel, and the man told me I couldn't check in until 3 pm. I understand if the hotel is full, but the hotel was pretty empty. In budapest I had arrived early and they let me take a shower and gave me some juice. But that guy in Krakow told me I could change clothes in the toilet. I did, but it was not a nice reception contrasted with the warm reception I had received in Budapest.
I went to a couple of bars in Warsaw and didn't meet anyone, which I usually do in most cities, at least for a conversation.

Spent ten days in Poland just before it was part of the EU.

Had a wondeful time. Got to see many places including:-
Warsaw, Bydgoszcz, Torin, Sopot, Krakow and the Camps, the Ski Resort of Zopicline (not sure of the spelling but it in the Tatras Mountains) Marlbok Castle, Gdanks, the list could go on.

The locals made me feel welcome and even the buses run on time.

Going into Bydgoszcz City from the Airport it was a shock to see a Tesco as they are built the same anywhere in Europe.

English, living in Mazury, for the last three years.
Best things people, countryside, lakes, mountains, good beer, vodka and cost of living.
Worst things are the poverty and the two potato heads that are running the place (bring back kwasniewski)
The language is not easy to learn.
The old folk would push to the front of a queue for an early grave.

I'm an American. I don't know anything about Poland, which is pretty ignorant. Well, there was this one show where the man character liked Polish food, but always had to go to the bathroom after...

I think my aunt's friend hired a lady who was Polish to take care of her elderly mother.. the lady would make soups and different dishes of potatoes.

Wow, I feel dumb. Pretend you never read this.

Polish currency leaves a lot to be desired. When I went to Warsaw I was coming down with flu and I remember sitting in the airport trying to work out with my germ addled brain if I had enough old or new Zloty to get a burger. I gave up in the end.
