means higher income, prestige, acceptance in general but with certain groups of people as well, it means being able to acquire property and build a life, to expand one's horizons, to reach a status, to be trusted, to lead a prosperous life, to be able to give more, to be able to do the things I've always wanted to do.
career itself means a specialization and specific education toward being an authority on a subject, and having people come to you for what you know.

You have many answers which define career.
But I might say a career will mean different things to everybody. Success on the job front, remuneration, personal achievement etc...
Age plays a huge factor in the importance of a career.
A career means little to someone facing retirement.
For me personally, a career no longer holds any meaning.
I have a job which I'm happy doing and it keeps my household financially afloat.
This is all I require from a career.

Some people are caught up in this career thing and to me it means I have to stay away from them as they just can't understand that some other people might be happy just by surfing all day on sea waves, teaching people how to surf and so on, living a simple life, happily by the sea.
To me career people are often bags of nerves, spite, bile and generally bad vibes with too much to prove and very little inner peace.

a lot. you have economic independence. but for looking after the family i had to forgo my ambition.if you've a career , you have a sense of achievement.
but no regrets. my sacrifices have helped me in the grooming of my two sons. i'm proud of my achievements.
