I had this problem with my Epson R200, the black printing was very grainy and missing in parts, i changed the black ink cartridge for a new one and it cleared the problem up.

This worked for me and may work for you. Mind you, you can buy a new reasonable quality printer cheaper than repairing an old one.

With HP i was under the impression that the heads were contained in the ink cartridge, however try going to printer maintenance and cleaning the heads and realigning them.

Good Luck.

Do you mean it seems to be printing as expected, but some of the text or whatever appears to be missing? Could be the ink is running out, or the heads might need cleaning. I'd read your printer documentation on "troubleshooting"

ok. uninstall your printe, reinstall it (you may want to go to the hp website and look for the driver of the printer in case it was updated) after the fresh install, print a test page. Still bad? looks like your printer is tired. if still under warranty, try and have it fixed-probably the belt - or replaced by HP). Best.

What do you mean by 'partially'? Is it printing, say, half a page and then stopping, or does it 'appear' to be printing everything yet the page is blank in some parts?

If there are white lines in the printed page it's an indicator your ink is low. get a new cartridge.

Check the ink levels and replace if necessary. Then give it a good clean. :)
