As many times as I care to recall.
And the people in line behind me would give me the most diabolic
stares and sneers. Still, I was too
broke and too hungry to even know to be embarrassed.
And to get them to stop gawking into my direction I finally had to reel around at them and ask,
"what, you all have some spare change you want to give me or something?" One elderly lady reached into her purse and handed me a 20 dollar bill.

Yes, I tried to give a bell boy a few dollars in small change. I was pretty clumsy and embarrassed, but he waited patiently, not saying a word but "thank you" when I was through and he'd taken the handful of coins.
Guess he really needed the tip, so I'm glad I did the deed.

Why yes! I bought 2 30pack razors and some batteries out of my coffee can which I took inside with me. I ended up arguing with my old manager (no coincidence) about how they cannot take that much change. I raised up and out loud "this is AMERICAN CURRENCY" "there is nothing wrong with AMERICAN CURRENCY!" ahahah I felt like an idiot on the way out but I'm halfway through the second pack of razors and I smile most of the time while shaving. lol.
