Definitely; and on a weekly basis. More STD's; unmarried pregnancies; abortions; drug addiction; divorces are over 50%; 1/3 of men and 1/4 of married women admit to infidelity; burgeoning prison populations compared to population's increase; fatherless households; decreased respect for family, community, and authority-all prove we are living in the 'Last days".

Yes it has, and I believe there are 2 reasons why. 1. Air conditioning! 2. Microwave ovens! Stop and think about it! In the days before air conditioning after dinner everyone went outside and sat on the porch and enjoyed the cool of the evening, and saw most people on your street doing the same thing. Neighbors spoke, and were concerned for each other, and the world was a better place. Now microwave ovens. Back then when momma spent a hard afternoon cooking a home cooked meal you dern sure ate it. You saw your family every nite, talked about what was going on, etc. Simple luxuries have started us isolating our selves in our own little worlds, and if it doesn't happen in the middle of your house you generally don't care, UNTIL ITS IN YOUR HOUSE, then its to little to late. That's the way I figure it anyhow

No, we've just been accumulating knowledge faster than we've been accumulating the wisdom required to apply it.

Technology has outpaced social development, and we haven't adapted our ways of thinking quickly enough to deal with this effectively. It's true everywhere- in Asia, the USA, Europe, Africa...

Crisvet, your notion of two parents in Africa being a recent idea- what nonsense. So what happened to Africa? Oh, perhaps over 40 million parents and children forcibly separated, shipped off to other continents due to the Atlantic slave trade? Now THAT was a loss of moral footing. Feeding Christians to lions in ancient Rome? The inquisition? The Holocaust? The killing fields of Cambodia? Those are losses of moral footing.

Yes, the extension of childhood is key but your overreach into the physical development of adolescence is absurd- you're ignoring the cultural elements entirely. Societies in Africa are where young girls to this day are subjected to genital mutilation and having their breasts ironed to keep them flat (and unmarried)

Or should I theorize that the behavior of Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss is simply the result of their being slender and caucasian?

The US lost whatever moral footing it gave the illusion of having a long time earlier.

The best answer is simple, and is explained by googling the "garbage generation" and spending an hour reading the free online book.

It is rooted in the decline of the family unit, and neatly explains the direct correlation between everything we percieve as "bad" and what actually happens in single parent environments.

Up to 90% of societies Rapists, murderers, child molesters, dead beat dads, wife beaters, drug addicts, prostitutes, students with low marks, poor jobs, bad relationships, come from single parent homes.

The roots are disciplinary in nature (mainly lack of), as well as children being exposed to things commonly found in lower social ecominic situations. (more drugs, abuse, violence etc.)

The concept of 2 parent homes is not young, and is found as follows:
Asians = 5000 years old
Caucausians = 2000+ years old
Africans = 500 years to present

Infact, the more it is studied, the more we see a direct correlation between 2 parent homes and societies that evolved from the stone age.

This is in part due to "elongating" childhood, simply put: the longer a child has to develop, the smarter and more disciplined he or she is likely to be.

The opposite is found in single parent homes, where 1 parent is often burdened too much to do the job of 2 parents effectively. This phenominum is seen in age of puberty etc of these children being reached years before those of children from 2 parent homes.

We also see this in Africa, where 6-7 year old girls have been known to get pregnant, whereas Orientals, are more likely to go through puberty later in life.
Body shapes also relate to this, the earlier a child developes, the larger the breasts, and rounder the hips.

This opposite is found in orientals, who often have less developed breasts, and flatter, longer hips. This also explains why very intellgent caucausians (especially women) are found with less curves on their body.

Finally, as good intentioned people, we look to government to solve the problems with societal decay, when infact there is nothing gov't can do to replace the presense of 2 loving strict parents that set a good example for their children to follow. No program, incentive, or councilling service can come close to the ongoing love, foundation and discipline of a 2 parent home.

ya everyone sits around and expects the government to do everything for us,babysit,educate,nurish, provide shelter,defend us just dont use our soldiers, oh dont forget to help the poor people that are breaking the law by being here, and so on and so on dont get me wrong I don't think we're doomed but yes our morals have slipped. Children aren't even raised to be respectfull anymore.

I wouldn't say we have all lost our morals, but definitely our leaders and most people of any major influence, religious leaders, famous people, I know we are losing IQ, which I believe to be a major contributing factor to a lot of our problems.

i don't think so. i think there have always been immoral people. the US is founded by immoral behavior.

-raping native american women, killing the men, burning the villages
-slavery and segregation
-prostitution
-bootlegging
-the mafia
-child and spousal abuse (used to be completely legal and a man's right to mete out justice as he pleased in his own home)
-political corruption
-government testing of syphilis on unknowing citizens (gov has admitted doing this)

people are as flawed now as they ever were in this country and in others, but there are also a great deal of moral, just people just as there always were. i think that it seems worse because the media has made the crime/violence/cheating more well known. 50 - 100 yrs ago, you likely only knew of the news in your small town or state. it was rare for news to be known across the entire country. now, we are kept up to date of rapes, murders, and child abduction.

btw, i'm a sociology student conducting an anonymous study on marriage and children. check out http://geocities.com/sbiv37 to participate.
