Obviously they are both in water, and water that they are both perfectly happy in for the purposes of the question, even if such a water does not exist in reality.

In all honesty if you held the fight 100 times half would be won by the croc, have would go to the shark.

The trick is all in the first blow. If the croc gets a good enough first blow by taking out a fin or the tail the the shark would have no chance. However if the shark good a good first blow and was able to hold onto the croc it could drown it really fast.

Like I said, it really depends on the first attack by both. Nonetheless I do not think it would be a long fight.

The Great white shark would more than likely win because of its speed. Afterall the shark is a Fish and at home naturally in the water, the Crocodile a Reptile and so only uses the water to live in (it breeds on land). This means the Croc would have to come up for air (which is why its nostrils are on the end of its nose at the top, to allow it to bask close to the surface for air).
Also when a GWS attacks it propels its self at speed and hits its target causing internal damge and loss of oxygen. Then rips its victim into shreds with its rows of serrated teeth. The Croc uses a death roll to keep its victim held under water until it drowns. Thsi wouldnt really affect the shark so its strategy is useless.

Shark wins

no longer a probably state of affairs because of the fact they might not meet in nature. Crocodiles do no longer stay interior the sea and massive white sharks do no longer stay in clean water rivers. One or the different would be deprived by using being taken from their organic habitat. Theoretically the shark would win if the combat became in deep water. it is because of the fact crocodiles tend to tug their prey to an underwater cache or save. The sufferer oftentimes drowns while the croc drags it below. A crocodile would discover it annoying to drown a shark. Sharks additionally are slightly wanting legs and necks for the crocodile to get a stable grip. In a shallow river the crocodile would stand a extra advantageous danger against the shark because of the fact it might have extra manoeuvrability close to the banks. the large white would additionally be bothered by no longer being in salt water.

I'm very surprised that some of you think that crocodile skin is harder than sharks. In fact, it is very tender and shiny skin, morbid and nice. Great white will cut through it more easily than tiger shark cuts through sea turtle armor. On the other side, skin of the great white can be thicker then 1/2", its very rough, worse than a sandpaper, completely covered with skin teeth and serves as an additional external skeleton and armor. Crocodile of any size hardly has any chance to open its mouth wide enough to bite the shark big as great white, and I'm almost sure it is not able to make any scratch on its skin. If we compare the sizes of the biggest crocodile and the biggest white death, the shark is about at least 3 times heavier and 4 times faster. The strenght of the jaws and sharpeness of the teeth also goes in favor of the great white. Slender crocodile is a perfect bait for these monsters, cause it can bite them through the middle, having no chance to miss it.
To be sure in all of this, I suggest - lets take one crocodile and one great white (of the equal size) in some pool, and lets look who is going to run on the ground :)

well crocodile, err are there any crocodile that live in the sea shore?? (Let me check...)

well OK there are salt water crocodile, very new for me. I only know that there is only the Bull shark that can adapt to both freshwater and sea water, but the great white sharks are not that special, they live only in the sea water. Its possible for the two species to fight in the ocean.

I think the shark will win, crocodiles have to go up to the surface for air, while sharks can dive deep without caring problems for air

Good Question, They both have very powerful jaws and very agile. However the crocs skin is much tougher and would probably take a couple bites to break through to the core lol. The croc would just have to take one bite and the Whitey would be in pain and trouble, and probably start eatin himself when he smells his own blood (joke). However the croc doesn't have those rows of razor sharp teeth and when he does smell that blood he'll turn into Hulk-Shark.

Overall it would be a great beef but Shark would win I think. Mind you Squid vs Shark, Squid would win as demonstrated by Sydney Aquarium. They put a Squid into shark tank but if started to be attacked they were gonna take it out. Next Morning two sharks were gone and lone behold, they Squid was on top of them. (Great Whites btw)

Also do some research on Humboldt Squid, interesting creature.

The shark. It can stay in water forever. Even a crocodile couldn't stay underwater forever.
