hi i was wondering if a letter will still be delivered if the stamp is on the top left hand corner of the letter.

Yeah, it matters!

I have a friend that is serving 12 years in Folsom Prison for doing that. But he is suppose to get out next year after serving only 9 years of his sentence so it's not that big of a deal.

this has really got me thinking i don't suppose it does matter but makes you wonder why we automatically put the stamp on the top right.

I do believe it matters because the meter lines run across it like a bar code.

it should make it just fine. but postal workers are confused easily, and often in a bad mood,(and thats how the postmarking machines are set up) so try to keep to the top right!

yea I would think so - unless its going to Canada! Their post is soooo stringent with labels and stuff!
