After shipwreck of Samina, after Parnitha disaster and now Peloponisos........... anyone responsible? Have you heard of anyone arrested, jailed ? Are we asleep or we do not mind when it is not our home?

I would not take them to court, I would throw them into hands of people that lost their beloved, that lost their homes to judge about their future, if any.
Our ancestors were right in case like this one : eye for an eye!

They can not understand the pain of the people fighting for their bare lives. They sit on their fat @sses in AC, drink their refreshements and chatt about elections, promissing us heaven and giving us hell in return.
Once in armchair, they forget how it was to work for 600Euro and have children of school age and unemployed wife, who was fired from fer job because her factory was closed by their decision.

The fish stinks from its head, we all know that. Not only this fish, every fish.
We did not want king, we sent him away and became a free democratic country. ok.
But now we have another 'royals' in governement - from father to son: Karamanlis, Papandreou, Venizelos, Mitsotakis x2.......these people do not have to be there! They were pampered and never worked in their lives! They do not know what is the real life about !
Get rid of "royal" blood and immortals and vote for plane people that will fight for our tomorrow!

well while i went on holiday in Kefalonia a few weeks ago, i heard on the radio one day that most of Zakinthos was on fire and that they caught an arsonist who said that he likes doing stuff like that....phsyco!! he confessed that hes part of some gang. on the way to the beach one day, we say a tiny, little fire starting and thank God we had a bottle of water with us.
there are a lot of weird people in the world but when i think of that statement deeper i remember that its all over the place. and now since its coming to greece i feel weird, a feeling i cant explain... :'(

altogether there were 160 different fires. at least 2 houses are burnt to a crisp. 41 people dead including firefighters. a fire crossed a highway. It was hard for planes to take off because of the wind. The fire today travelled 60 km. it is just as much smoke as 9/11. The fire is now in Zakaros, Immitos, Peloponniso, Katehaki and Athens.
one thing for sure is that some people, when they turn on the news, they watch the fire for 5 minutes and then turn it off. they say that they care but the problem is that so much of crime is happening almost everyday and people dont say much about it.
my deepest sympathies to the families of all who have passed away and to the whole nation, ill and i am praying for them. just as my loved ones have gone i will pray for them the same way, making them my loved ones.

We do mind Savva, but what can we do? I would gladly execute myself with torture any arsonist caught, although I am against teh death penalty. But how am I supposed to catch him? If you tell me what to do, I will do it gladly. I tried to help the forests by working voluntarily in a wildlife rescue centre. Now I am so sad for the animals we rehabilitated. Tehy are all probably burned now. Next time If I find a wild animal I will keep it at home after treatment. It is illegal, I know, and it is not good for the nature, but frankly the forest is a place where it will either get barbequed or hunted down, if it happens to be in the few refuges left unburned. At least the hunting should stop to the few animals that have escaped the fire!

Right now is not a time to play the blame game.Right now is the time to feel sorry for all those lost.Right now is the time to feel anger, the destruction of all forests in Greece is nearly complete now...Right now is the time for action.Demand the reforesting of the forests burned.Demand change in the way we protect our forests. My thoughts with the victims and their families...:'(
skaidebate at youtube...for anyone who has a camera(I don't,or else my video would allready be out there...ask those responsible...)

Brother cypriot Savva, thank you for your thought, and unfortunately as you know, nobody has the responsibility...Instead of trying as a nation to resolve the problem, they are trying all to collect the votes, and to fight on the desaster..Needless to say who is putting the fires, many times economic interests, other times....others who have their own reasons.
And i am asking...Till when do we have to accept this situation? And this is valid for every country who is suffering from iit..Because we are all citizens of this world and we deserve a better life

The only responsible it the one who has nothing to do with it.!!!
This is the new Greek concept.
No one will ever be arrested. The most usual thing is we have about 3404958 committees to start investigations about who is responsible. Then, Elections come and all of a sudden, no one is responsible but my aunt.
It is time we surpass sadness. It is time to get really angry.

no one...
they are making meetings, while people are being burned alive..
they are making press conferences, while we are loosing our hope ....
they are looking for votes, while we are looking for a helping hand
ENOUGH
Lets show them what we think of them! NOW
Elections is the perfect time!
VOTE DOWN ON THEM

I'm writing these lines while my heart bleeds, not only for environment and my country, but also for my secretary and friend who is still missing as she joined her husband in fighting the fire at Styra....
Yesterday evening I saw the Prime Minister in the TV looking frustrated of the catastrophe in course. I was about to sympathize with him, but at once this feeling turned out to be real and immense anger:
Isn't he the one to be held responsible for having chosen this bunch of impotent idiots to handle our today and future?
Isn't he the one who instead of sending Polydoras or Basiakos to plant onions, kept them in their positions and gave them cover?
Isn't he the one who never recovered the criminal mistakes of the former governments, as the banishment of the forest guards corps?
Isn't he the one to have been just watching Fourlas and Kois quarreling and avoiding speaking to each other as if they handled the case of their grandfather's barn?
Isn't he the one to have tollerated Magistrates like the ones of Messinia and Helia, and their "competent" stuff that ignored the existance of 300 volunteer rescuers ready to intervene when asked to?
Isn't he the one who did not provide for 3,5 years that this country gets at last a formal forest registry?
My anger is equal with the sorrow for the human lives, the forests and habitats, and the millions of animals loss.
I hope that some arsonists will be caught and brought to justice.
But with, or without them, the "competent" ministers, of the present and the former governments, along with the prime ministers of the past 25 years must be brought before Justice for violation of almost half the articles of Penal Law and TREASON against this country.....
