"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings," by Maya Angelou.

Many consider it to be one of the most important and moving autobiographies even written by a woman. It is as inspiring as it gets.

I am a Hollywood Buuf so here goes;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lauren_Bacall
""Bacall has written two autobiographies, Lauren Bacall By Myself (1978) and Now (1994). In 2005, she updated and renamed them by the title By Myself and Then Some.""

http://www.amazon.com/Swanson-Gloria/dp/0394506626
"""Swanson on Swanson (Hardcover)
by Gloria Swanson (Author) """

Myrna Loy is a fun read!!
http://www.meredy.com/myrnaloy/
"""""On a personal note, her autobiography "Myrna Loy: Being and Becoming" was published in 1987.

http://www.silentera.com/people/actresses/Astor-Mary.html
""Mary Astor wrote two autobiographical books: My Story: An Autobiography (1959) and A Life on Film (1971). Mary passed away in 1987 at the age of 81.""

And Rosalind Russell is another fun read, as are all of these that I am listing...
"""Life is a Banquet"""
http://www.angelfire.com/ri2/rebeccastjames/Rosalind.html
"""Before her death she wrote autobiography, "Life Is a Banquet," the title taken from her famous quote in Auntie Mame""

And I will toss list for Edna Ferber a much neglected writer // cannot unearth her Biography by her Grand Niece but it is the strangest (in a good way) biogtaphy that I have ever read - - - it goes backwards from death to birth..
