Yes... but only if the odds are more than two.... you must have heard that... a bird in hand is worth two in the bush!!

Jesting apart, I believe we as human beings are gifted with the power of imagining the future and we are so moved by our imagination that we indeed keep betting our today for a better tomorrow..... well even ants are known to store food for the rainy day of the future. I suppose it depends on the intensity and the perceived probability of the hope for tomorrow which determines how much and what we may be willing to sacrifice today!!
