And how does one wire in the thermostat into the electric supply?

no you don't have to chisel out.you can surface mount pipes (use chrome pipe and chrome compression fittings) the electric cable can be capped in plastic trunking (T2 or T3), depending on the size of cable required. 6mm for showers up to 8.5 Kw(T2) 10mm (T3) 9Kw. hope this helps you out. if you need any more help just ask, as I'm a fully qualified electrician.

I have never heard of an electric shower- sounds shocking! I would assume though that you need to cut a hole for the device to fit in.

listen pal if you have got to ask the question you aint capable of fitting a shower it is not a diy job. in the end you will be responible for killing youreself or somebody else leave it to the professionals. not only that it is ILLEGAL ANYWAY

roberts if you are in fact a fully qualfied electrican you should be ashamed of yourself, you should know that to fit a shower is illegal
