Stalin became increasingly concerned that the Soviet Union would be invaded by Germany. Stalin believed the best way of dealing with Adolf Hitler was to form an anti-fascist alliance with countries in the west. Stalin argued that even Hitler would not start a war against a united Europe.

it was what is later known as eastern block ... ussr (stalin) , having the ww2 in mind with all devastation, sought a buffer zone between ussr and germany. ussr did not hesitate to install friendly (communist) goverments in those states , which was faciliated by soviet red army which were still in those countries.

i dont know which exactly , but there was a conference with the allied leaders , where they talked about that ..

countries of that buffer zone were: eastern germany , poland, czech republic (then including slovakia), hungary, bulgaria , romania,

ussr and its 'buffer zone' or satellite states also made up the warsaw pact (military treaty) as well as the comecon (economical association)
