I recently got fired from my last job for not showing up, when others have done this & havent gotten in trouble for it. I had very important business to take care of & I told the hostess over the phone who never told the manager. When I wanted to speak to the manager, she wasnt available so I got the hostess to take a message in which she never delivered.
Would I get in trouble with the law if tomorrow, during this certain hostess & managers shift, I went into the restraunt, got something to eat, complained about the food and accidently "dropped" it ,along with my drink, on the table, leaving a one cent tip??
I know I may be acting a bit childish about this, especially for my age. But this little hostess was once my friend and is also using the company phone to call my cell and say "f*ck you" and offering a fight. Which I believe I should also go to the manager about and possibly get her fired. Shes been trin to get me fired since day 1 but this manager shows her special attention.

Thank you all for your answers!! I already have another job so, Im satisfied about that. I just thought it would be funny to do a thing like this and wondered if it would get me in any serious trouble. I dont think if i put this as a job reference on my next app. that there would be any way for my next job to find out about this. Correct?? If so, I'm not worried. Oh and this "IMPORTANT BUSINESS" was a last minute emergency trip to the top of my state. NOT something I could let my manager know in advance. I have enough sence to know when to let a manager know an upcoming event thank you. :-)

No, you won't get in trouble with the law by doing something like that, as long as you keep your cool and act it out sensibly it will look like an accident and no one can get you in trouble for that. Even though it might sound childish, it will help you get it out of your system and it won't hurt anyone, just make them work a little harder. Than to add coal to the fire, call the management and complain about your use to be friend and rake her over the coals with the management. Why the one cent? is that for degrading? I wouldn't leave anything.

Greetings! Your proposed reaction will not get you in trouble with the law unless you were banned from the restaurant, then the Police can site you for trespassing.
It is, however, a very childish thing to do. I understand your anger and resentment, especially with your former friend. I can only imagine your humiliation and sadness, but it won't do you a bit of good to go off and make a jerk out of yourself. It will only reflect on you negatively and you don't need that.
If this woman continues to harass you on the phone, she can be reported. You can also tell your manager about it. I do think that you should try and meet with your manager so he or she can hear what you have to say. If he or she is receptive and this is an isolated incident, then you might be able to win back your job.
If that doesn't work, there are lots of other restaurants you can work at. If you are strong and mature enough and also be able to acknowledge ways to make sure this situation doesn't happen again, you should be easily hired.
Be mature. Don't let that restaurant ruin your reputation.
Hope this helps you. Good luck.

I wouldn't recommend doing that. However, depending on the company, they might have an anonymous line that you can call and complain about the place you work. Trust me, I'm in management where I work, and it is a much more damaging blow. I don't know if you would get arrested, but I wouldn't want to risk it. If you call and complain, not only would the employee who harassed you get fired, but also the manager for not paying close enough attention to their staff.
Also, if you ever need a job and they call that employer for a reference, it could keep you from getting the job you want.
Put it this way...granted, you would upset the person who pissed you off, but what if someone that you liked had to clean up the mess. Think about the collateral damage. Hope this helps.

Maybe a better response would be to send a certified letter to your manager, and to someone higher up in the chain (for example someone high up in the corporate office if the restaurant is a franchise). In the letter outline exactly what happened, who you spoke to, who the hostess is, who your manager was etc. Also file a complaint with the state's labor department about the restaurant's unfair business practices.
Put them (your ex-friend, and your ex-boss) in the hot seat. Let them be in the position where they have to explain themselves.

Maybe you should be an adult about the whole thing.
In the future, if you have "very important business to take care of", you should let your manager know in advance, not the day of, so that arrangements can be made. That is how the real world works sweety.

Your Stepfather is performing like an a$$! you're able to desire to communicate on your husband and discover out why he gets mad once you communicate approximately transferring. How approximately transferring someplace the place its the comparable distance from the two families. yet i could recommend finding a gap that's not walking or a short stress. Make it 20-half-hour minimum, That way the two families could could desire to make the attempt.

You need to be a grown up. That behavior is very high school. You screwed up and got fired, we've all done it and had to deal with the fall out. Move on find another job and take care of business on your day off.

I think that you should go in and talk to your manager and explain what happened. You should be able to call in sick to your work place. It is allowed by law. You could probably take this issue to court and sue them. Don't be immature about the situation cause it will only make things worse.

You won't get in trouble with the law, but you will get in trouble with your own Karma account. Keep that in mind. Restaurant jobs are like commercials, some are good and some are awful...most are annoying.
