Does it make a difference if i have the ac and radio on while the engine is not running? Some people told me to have my engine running because it drains the battery or damages the ac or something like that, but i don't really see how it could...

When you car isnt running the AC compressor will not be running, just the blower motor, the radio will work too.... they will both draw current from the battery..... it makes no sense to leave the AC on while the car is off since the AC system is off.

Without the engine running the AC compressor isn't turning as it runs off either a single belt or a serpitine belt to power it and produce a dehumidifying , cooling effect. As far as draining the battery ,yea, same reason. If the alternator isn't turning and alternating current from powering the radio and blower motor to recharging the battery then all options are simply running off the battery reserve stored electric and soon the battery is drained of it's reserve electric storage. It won't damage anything, only leave ya on the side of the road without enough current to start the car or turn over the starter

Yes this will run down your battery (over a period of time usually a couple hours sometimes less). Without your car running the alternator (which recharges the battery) is not turning. By having your A/C on with the engine off all that you are getting is fan air. The A/C compressor is not turning (to cool the air) with the engine off. Both the alternator and A/C compressor are driven by the belt system when the engine is running.

You will slowly drain the battery, but it will do you no good at all to have the a/c on without the engine running. There will be no cooling without the engine powering the a/c compressor.

Having the radio won't hurt the car and would take at least 8hrs to weaken the battery. As for the a/c you need the motor running to operate the pump which sends the condensed air around the car.As for damage you would only loose the cool air & just have the fan blowing..

It won't do any harm, but it will drain the battery eventually!
