I'm sorry to say but no he won't. He just retired at the Cincinnati Masters because of a minor injury. He's also a bit fatigued according to most tennis analysts. Nadal has a very solid game on a hard court. However, he sometimes struggles on a hard court and doesn't have a serve which can save him when he has an off day. He's a fierce contender but he isn't ready. I see him in the quarterfinals or 4th round.

Thanks for question and God Bless....

Of course he can ... his game isnt like the games of other clay-court sluggers , his game is quite suited to hard courts .For example , he won the Rogers Cup in 2005 : this tournament is played on the same surface as the US Open , its in the same wilting summer heat and the same time zone that New York experiences during the US fortnight. He can very well win at Flushing Meadows , and I hope that your hope will be fulfilled soon !!!
*I dont have choices as long as I see good tennis!!*

Hard courts are the surface he really needs to improve on.....Four reasons why Rafa cannot win US Open this year...

1.... I agree that he has many weaknesses on hard courts....

2......he must get adapted to hard courts which are not as slow as the clay.......

3.....plus he must get fully fine with that left arm injury..or strain...( i don't remember what it is)

4...There are other contenders for the title...Roger will obvuiously be the first...Novak will be ciunted second... Then comes Rafa..and I doubt Roddick's ability to win another slaM...

i really hope he will but his current form is such that i am not expecting him to go beyond the fourth round or quarters.he is struggling with injuries and his is still not the best at hardcourts.
i would really like it if he improves on hard courts the way he has done on grass courts and gives federer a run for his money.

i think some competitors for the title besides federer will be djokovic, roddick and hewitt.

I want him to win the US open, Im tiredof Roger Federer winning maches in Grass, Nadal may be the king of CLay, but he has to prove himself in the Grass.

Yes he can win this year and he has had a very good year.
He competed well in French and Wimbledon, but he needs to
do more to win US open. Guys who will stop him doing this,
will be Federer and Djokovic.

Rafa i guess will make it to the fourth round. He has the power and the game but he still is short of technique on hard courts. I might be wrong but thats my view point.Rafa if he could pass the fourth round then can we consider him as a threat to federer.

It's going to be king federer again fourth time in a row and his 12th major.

I really hope rafa wins cos its boring to watch federer win all the time but thats the greatness of the man and his simplicity. One has to love him.
