No. The US government hates Iran more than their US-friendly officials running Iraq.

Since the Iranian revolution Iran's govt. has been trying to get back with us. We've been on the brink of re-establishing diplomatic relations a few times, but something always happens.

As for Saddam, you know he could never have gotten to be dictator in Iraq in the first place without considerable help from the US. He was 'our friend in the region' for many years. When he gassed the Kurds in Halabja during the war with Iran, the US govt. insisted for many years afterwards that it was Iranian gas that killed them.

What do you think would have happened if Iran was allowed to take Saddam out and found....umm a culture of B. anthracis with an Illinois return address on it, with a paper autharizing it signed by Reagan's state department, or found any of the other stuff the Reagan admin sold him?
Saddam proved he was a threat by attacking Kuwait. If he wouldn't have done that, he probably wouldn't be pushing up daisies right now, well not because of Bush anyway.

No, I think Iraq was the first to be taken out because they were the easiest and doing so has set us up to deal with Iran from a much better position.

Iraq was a strategic move that bordered upon genius - for those who know genius.

Admittedly, most do not.

No. US leaders know how disastrous it would be to try to go to war with Iran. Unlike Iraq, which isolated themselves, Iran has friends outside of their country. Also, look how much trouble a few thousand "insurgents" are giving Bush's war strategy. Vietnam was a wake up call for the US. Unfortunately this administration failed to read the memo.

The US and the Iranian clerics have been on the outs ever since the occupation of the US embassy. The present Iranian administration is not helping matters one bit.

The issue is nukes. There were nuke factories in Iraq at one time but we took them out in the late 90's from the air. The USA used nukes as the reason for invading Iraq but I believe there is another reason under the surface.

because Iran is a real democracy , US did not want to rock the boat when iranian reformers were elected in power , but it is a different story when the fundamental hardliners are elected in power.

Saddam was a murderer and should have been killed. The USA did not convict and kill him. It was the Iraqis. They should have turned him over to the Kurds. Saddam killed many thousands of innocent Kurd men, women and children.
