I may have too many reported/removed answers as well. There are a few people who report me regualrly if I insult Buffalo, Detroit or Ottawa. They suck. Their teams suck. And this to will be reported/removed. Get out of your mom's basement ya fags.

LOL

Chris,

here is the link for the official answer from Yahoo Answers as to what a Top Contributor is. if you go to the "help" link in the upper right hand corner of most of the Yahoo Answer webpages, you should see it. it'll say "Answers Home, Forum, Blog, and Help." you can do a search on things that you don't understand about Yahoo Answers.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/network/contributor.html

for instance, i despise my T/C status. and the reason is tied into Y/A's definition of what a T/C is. it says something ridiculous, like the "person has demonstrated that they're knowledgeable". nothing could be further from the truth. i guess that they don't want to be "politically (in)correct" and specify if it's the CORRECT knowledge or MISTAKEN knowledge.

to set the record straight and to dispel any myths:

- IT HAS NOTHING TO DO W/ "BEST ANSWERS" PERCENTAGE! DO YOU PEOPLE READ WHAT IS POSTED ABOVE YOU?
- it involves how much you contribute to a section, asking or answering.
- i believe it's graded weekly. so that suggests that you can lose and gain T/C status

that's coming from Y/A

here's some hints though. don't be infatuated w/ a title. i hate this tag. if one's answers have wisdom or good perspective, most people will recognize that for what it's worth. and that person will be listened to more in the future. their opinion will be weighed and considered. there are many on here who only cheerlead, change their avatar, play trivia, and rip on other teams. that's great. it's a free country (or continent). and it's also the offseason, so there isn't much meat in the section. and i question how much they truly "contribute". i also hope that my answers are weighed by their content and not some stupid tag next to my name. that is why i'll never claim to be the expert at something. i merely have an opinion. if mine is crap, it shouldn't matter who is a T/C or in the list of Top 10. if i am a rambling idiot and make no sense, then don't consider my opinions.

however, once you're on here long enough, you'll realize the few who actually bring experience, wisdom, and perspective to the table w/o letting their bias rule their opinion. those who do let their bias rule, tend to turn this place into a 3rd grade playground, as you hear words like "dummy", and "poopypants" float around here. or the equivalent. i would say that those in the first category (wisdom, balanced perspective) i can count on one, maybe two hands. as a result, that is why you see an entire day of questions revolving around themes of squabbling and namecalling. or even what REALLY makes me laugh, threats to "beat someone else up ... just name the place ... anytime, anywhere." what a joke.

hopefully, that clears it up for you.

Im sure you must have higher than 12% Of Best Answers. Because before I got my Badge, i was hanging around the 12% area range for best answers. Once i got up to 14/15/16%, then i got my Top Contributer" badge.

All it really means is that we should be spending more time doing somthing else. I say it gets changed to "Too Much Time" Badge and they change the colour to red. That would be pretty funny.

Anyway i had around 60 best answers when i first gained my badge at about a total of 340 Total Answers. So just try and give your best answers and hope that you get a few more Best Answers from other people. Answering those pointless questions will hurt your %. So i dont answer every one i see. I try to keep my % somewhat high (16%)

I'm more impressed with your (or anybody else's) wit than your point total.
To answer your question, it looks to me that some people get another ID to log in on and rate their answers as best and give them any bonus points they can. Or get their wife to do it, nothin' like team work (not a shot at anybody specifically, just a suggestion). You could also try kissing a$$ and giving the questioner the answer they most want to hear instead of what you think is right. We also seem to have some folks on here who seem to do it this way, a lot of good answers over a longer period of time, but that requires a longer attention span than mine.
Let me give you a star to get you on your way.

Aww, poor Uncle Puck. I bet he'd be a Top Contributor if I just stopped giving all my Best Answers to Zam. LOL. Sorry, I'm ridiculous.

Y! Answers doesn't even let the public know how you become a Top Contributor. It's hush-hush. Snoop and I tried to figure it out several times. Lol.

Good luck to you though. :)

ADD: In light of Zam's answer down there, I should say what I said goes doubly for the questions he doesn't answer. :P

Oh yeah, I was more ashamed than thrilled when I got my little badge too. Haha. (I think I said something about not being worthy.)

Yeah, it does have something to do with best answers. I only have 8%, so I'm far from being one. But I read somewhere that it's based on the past month, and I haven't gotten too many best answers in the past month. Try typing "top contributor" in the question search bar. That's how I got information on it.

I was wondering the same thing for me. I've been here since Feb. But i do answer a sh!t load of q's, most are the type that deserve a smart @ss answer, or from people who just let it go into voting. I have over a 100 best answers, maybe 80 from the hockey section, and i don't have one. Most people that have the badge have like 12% best answer or higher....I'm only at 8%.

only answer a number of questions in a chosen class, yet no longer polls and surveys or jokes and riddles(no T/C for them),and have 10% ideal solutions, attempt to earn around 250-3 hundred factors a week interior the chosen class this includes solutions, astonishing solutions and a tick in line with answer,i completed this and have been given it in 3 weeks i replaced into receiving around 10-15 astonishing solutions a week so as that provides you a concept, and the T/C badge continuously looks on a monday, yet as quickly as you have it you ought to save contributing around 250-3 hundred factors a week interior the chosen class or you will lose it, so it helps to % something that hobbies you or you will basically become bored! stable success.

Chris, tags mean nothing. Have fun asking and answering questions.

'Top Contributer' isn't something I would put on your resume, or a college application.

I have had it (may still have) but I didn't ask for it.

You seem to have fun on here, and you seem to have made some friends, and to me, that is what is important. What you get out of the site personally.

You know Erica, I havent gotten a single one since you started your little "I give Zam all the best answers" campaign. Cut it out! 4 best answers ever! Count for yourself.

Besides that, my mom told me yesterday that I am both smart AND funny, so I am sure that I deserved all 4.

(please don't take me seriously, too much fighting on here already)
