I am firm in my beliefs, but does anyone out there respect people who challenge your beliefs? I knock head with Chi Guy almost daily, and Longhaired Freaky Person. Sometimes they're a little to far in left field, but many times I have to spend many moments thinking of a reply. Who else respects those who can present a hard challenge to your beliefs?

I love a good debate when each side leaves with more knowledge than they started with, but some people resort to name calling as soon as you make a good point that shows flaws in their opinion.

It depends on the situation, ... I can fully respect somebody and yet have totally different view points, IF the debate is sensible and carried out with a degree of decorum ...
HOWEVER .. when somebody comes across as arrogant and totally illinformed .. arguing more on their personal opinion without having any basis ( say such as a racist or a pervert) .. then i give that person all the respect that they deserve and that is NONE

mind you I will admitt that sometimes when I am a little tired I can be a little short ...

Why, because of the fact quite, you do no longer come them for the time of as usually... it is greater elementary to grasp somebody opinion once you're sitting wisely previous a working laptop or computing gadget... nevertheless, I admit: no! I truthfully have a good variety of subject to grasp people who convey even gently the supremacy of their races, perspectives or maybe movements... So, based relating to the matters i could say that if everyone isn't attempting to convince me, i'm going to pay attention... on the priority of religion, i think of it is extraordinary to work out this as a undertaking... or maybe on training, as I labored sometimes in psychiatry with young ones, i comprehend some punishments are truthfully detrimental...

Absolutely; but with a respectful tone and demeanor. Those whom display themselves as moral righteous, racial superior, etc....really aren't going to be on my good side. Even if they have really good arguements, they'll lose out on my reasonable attitude. I preserve that for those whom appreciate my company.

But other than the obvious anti-me views, I could easily speak with a person whom has reason and good sense. Especially if they think differently. Nothing is more important than knowing if you're right or wrong.

I do I love it. Bring it on! If you are going to email me throwing insults at me, that's another story. Most of them are way far left, and I don't agree with ANYTHING they believe in, but if they've got enough balls to email me, then I respect that. There are very few on here that I have talked with that I respect because all they do is insult, and spew their hate, and I do not respect that, or put up with it.

Any argument that is well presented and clearly thought out, has credible sources to support it and does not resort to name calling, bigotry or ignorant and inflammatory assertions is worthy of respect whether I agree or not.

Sure, everyone has an opinion, it's one of the only freedoms we have left anymore.
In the end, does it really truly matter? Other than sheer ego, I don't believe it does.

i respect others with opposing views as long as they are calm and have a valid point that i can clearly see, even if it takes me a bit to see it myself. i also respect them more if they can also truly see from my point of view and not get hot headed about it but stick to their beliefs anyway.

I'll respect theirs as long as they respect mine and do not scream at me that I am anti-American & anti-God for believing something different then they do (however that doesn't see to be the case)

I usually try to be civil in my dissent. There are times though when I feel completely insulted and have to return fire.
