Being immortal is only limited to movies, works of fiction! Bodily no human being ever becomes immortal! Immortality is the domain of soul atmans and not the bodily self. In this mortal world nothing can ever become immortal. It is an accepted fact that our soul atman within is the master and controller of our body and not vice versa!
It is our soul atman within that has manifested the body to work out its karma... eradicate the impurities within! As the rolling ball gathers moss... the souls' atmans in their cosmic sojourn gather impurities on the way. Similar as the metal within an ore cannot separate itself on its own... the soul atman also requires an external medium to remove the dross within.
The moment complete dross within the soul atman removes... the soul atman reaches the state of immortality! The cosmic sojourn for the soul atman having come to an end... the human being finally gains enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and salvation (moksha). In other words the moment human beings gains enlightenment and salvation... it reaches the state of immortality!
Immortality is gaining absolute control over life and death. The moment death permanently ceases to exist... one becomes immortal! The moment human beings reach the stage of enlightenment... the soul atman within liberates forever from the cycle of birth and death... it finally regains its original pure pristine form... it becomes immortal!
Immortality is not an attribute of the kingdom of heaven. Both heaven and hell are interim stages in the life of soul atman. After the death of body whenever matching parents are not available on Mother Earth the soul atman hibernates in heaven or hell depending on the residual balance of karma. If positive... soul atman hibernates in heaven! If negative... in hell!
The goal of human life is reaching the end of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation when human beings gain enlightenment and salvation! The moment all impurities within soul atman remove... it reaches the state of absolute purity... the state of immortality! Only in the immortal state can the soul atman gain entry into the kingdom of God (aka Baikuntha in Hinduism)! More on Being Immortal - http://www.godrealized.org/immortality_meaning_and_concept.html

No it wouldn't. At first, it would be, but over hundreds and thousands of years, and onward, life would get very bad. The world will be nothing but pollution at the 100 year mark, mankind will probably be extinct in about 1,000 years. There won't be an Earth in a few billion, and hum a might destroy it in less than 1,000 years. Where would you live after the Earth is gone? An immortal person could float in space and survive, but they would be inside out. That would be extremely painful. Even with a space suit, there wouldn't be enough food, and you would starve, but not quite die. You would be in complete agony, but you can't commit suicide if you are immortal, so you will be in awful pain for weeks, until your body shuts down to the point where you are unconscious. You won't die, but you would probably just end up unconscious forever, which wouldn't be fun.
Sorry if that was confusing or hard to follow, but in short: It wouldn't be fun to be immortal.

I could be fun if the immortal one was wise enough to continuously make good friends and not become continuously depressed when Friends died!
The immortal one would have to be able to adjust to change and not get too upset at not being able to 'grow up or grow old like other loved ones -being immortal would be a boring perhaps in that way but . oh the things the immortal see and learn and teach and do as life on Earth continued to develope .
I can see where it would be fun ---with the right attitude .

Ahh. There are some out there who already believe in which we are immortal. The whole idea of reincarnation. It's a fun thought to dwell on, but would you rather ponder on whether it would be fun to be immortal, or go out, have fun, and not care when or where it happens?

Wait a minute. Anyone who believes in Christian faith believes in immortality. Does the thought of hanging out in heaven or hell a fun future? My daughter said it best, as Jews we are promised one thing....storage. The question I think implies life like we have here. Could I be 25 again, and then live forever. Way cool. I am down with that.

It's not fun to be immortal.
I have to live it everyday and wish I can just die.

Cain from the Bible was made immortal for killing his brother, Abel. (It's a curse.) Immortal means forever. Would you want to live a Trillion trillion years? I wouldn't.

It probably would be ... until the Human race decided to blow itself up.... but then again, sitting back and watching our own sun explode would be something to write home about...
I guessI have mixed feelings about it. I suppose if the immortality was conditional as to if YOU wanted to make it end (and only yourself) then it would be cool.

It sure would be fun, but only if all of the human race was immortal, and contains their youth.

No - it would be hell to outlive everyone that you ever cared about. Being immortal would mean watching you children go.
