im Australian and im just curious? and what is the australian steriotype anyway?

I'm American and have met a lot of Australians. I always have a good time around them. One stereotype I've heard is that they're nuts about sports, and most of the Australians I've met did, indeed, seem to have a fairly keen interest in sports and outdoor activities in general. Also, they're said to be down-to-earth and friendly, which I've generally found to be the case. I have yet to meet a cold, condescending and pompous Australian.

The only thing I can think of as being as Australian stereotype is that you all very outdoorsy. Other than that, nothing except that you are very friendly. I have met a lot of Australians, and I think you are wonderful people. Do you like Americans?

I guess a Crocodile Dundee type is the stereotype, some guy who is rough, rude, and at home in the Outback. Some guy who carries a big Bowie knife and wrestles crocs. It's not true though I'm sure. I've met a few Australians and they seem the same as everyone else.

I am an American...i wish i was in Australia right now. Australians are very friendly.

i'm american and i've been to australia several times. you seem just like us to be honest. just different accents. and to this day i don't know what "playing the pokies" means. i had several people tell me they were going to that down there. other than that you seemed perfectly sane and normal to me. i think alot of people might think all australians are like the crocodile dundee movies and steve irwin( may he rest in peace). they think all of you are the rugged, outdoors, kill a croc with your bare hands type.lol

Americans don't think about Australians. You're too far away and you talk funny.
BTW I've been to your lovely country and it's cool. The people were nice and the scenery was great.

based on what I saw on the real world sydney, you guys are just like us. except with an accent but still like us.
