My social studies teacher used to teach drama, until they got rid of that. He's explained that mostly this year, we will be doing a lot of things we did in that class, like performing skits and doing big projects. Artistic things. Well, he assigned our table groups. I'm friends with one girl in my group, and the three others I'm not too friendly with on a daily basis. We have to do a skit about why history is important, and our theme is the military. Me and one boy in our group were the only ones talking. I tried so hard to get them interested, but they did nothing and looked at me the whole time. I don't mind taking charge on these things, I love being creative and writing, but even when I went around and asked them to each say why history is important, they gave me pretty much nothing. I want so badly to get a good grade on this project. I'm not going to let myself fail because of them, but I need their help.

~So where is your problem. Do the skit with the people who want to contribute and participate. Put it on accordingly. Announce at the beginning that although your group consists of "A" "B" C" "D" and "E", the presentation is presented by "A" and "B", then use the folks who want to be involved to do it. That way, you can tailor your presentation to the people who want to do it and the slackers won't get credit for your efforts. If you've got the backbone to follow through, there is no problem. Simple, really, if you've got the guts. If you don't have the guts, enjoy your life as someone's doormat, because that is what you can expect to have in store for yourself.

Been there, done that. Did it for me not the group. Was a hated success. Operative word is "success", not "hated". Takes that piece of anatomy between the brain and the azhole called a backbone. Use it.

It seems like your a pretty determined girl. I know you will do well even if you have to come up with the skit yourself...even though I know that is not what the assignment is about...its basically about the team work. Your teacher is looking to see how well each group can work as a team. Find out if you can change your theme and maybe go with something that the whole group has an opinion of. Sometimes if it is given up to an open forum then it is easier. It sounds like you tried that approach once with no luck...try it again but see what interests the others. FInd out their weaknesses and strengths. If one person likes to draw or paint but isn't to up on the public speaking...let them make any props you might need to use for your skit. If someone else has a real knack for writing see if they can come up with a skit after the whole group as a whole determines a topic and helps with the research. Good luck. I hope this helps.

You could notify the teacher of their lack of participation or just push ahead and do it yourself. Lets see, history and the military are quite meshed together. Most events in history involve a dynamic conflict between powers resulting in massive change (use it as you will). The most interesting history before the 20th century is found in (colony holding) imperial Europe . It depends upon which time period and geographical location.

You could do a skit about World War I and Woodrow Wilson (you'd need suit). You could talk about how difficult it was for the U.S. to keep an isolationist policy while Europe is at war....heh. Naw, probably not.

Do a skit of a war and have them play the dead soldiers and you and your girlfriend can explain how they died and for what cause. I hope that helps. There is nothing worse then students who do not do their part in study groups. I just hate that too.

Get one guy to be a soldier in Napoleon's army as they invade Russia. The others (including you) can be the Russians fleeing in front of the soldiers, taking their food with them..... French army was left to survive without supplies in the Russian winter.

Skip forward to the German army doing exactly the same thing and suffering the same fate. THEY DIDN'T LEARN.

And that's why history is important.

Do a Cleopatra theme skit. That will interest them.
