I mean, I see questions answered in long winded ways without really addressing the question!

People generally give their opinion not anwers when a question is asked.
It is upto the person who asked the question to decide which one best suits his need and is worth being considered an answer.
Enjoy buddy :-)

Yes, sometimes they are not answered directly. There can be a few reasons. One is that the person responding doesn't know the whole answer. The respondant might also be trying to explain the answer in their own terms, but taking a lot of words to do it. Some questions do not have a single right answer, which invites some nice discussion. Other questions are too complex, so only parts are addressed in the answer.

Take your pick. It could be any or several of those reasons.

Many questions are more complex than having a simple "yes" or "no" answer. Also, many of the questions asked are about opinions, experiences, and the people of Japan. None of those are completely fact-based, so it leaves room for the poster to add his/her own perspective. People, societies, and cultures do have commonality, but all of them are constantly changing, and not everyone meets their society's expectations, so well-thought answers should reflect that.

(If this seems like a long-winded answer that doesn't address the question, it's only because no question was asked!)

A lot of these 'questions' are not even questions. It seems that a lot of people are just looking for opinions, not answers.
