Actually, they want to use the fairness doctrine to force indoctrinate those who don't want to willingly listen to their point of view. Air America is a flop and NPR is largely ignored, so they want to force radio stations to air their propaganda, regardless of whether or not there is an audience.

So that all news is sugarcoated and have is believing we could be living in a Utopia free of terrorists, and "evil" conservatives.

You are mistaken in one point though. It's not that they never let conservative radio talk show hosts have their time, it's that they want to take it away because they're speaking out against them.

This isn't just a liberal issue. There are conservative politicians who are for it as well because conservative talk radio criticizes them as well.

They have no control over that and it scares them. People may have to end up voting over right and wrong rather than right or left, and the politicians don't want that.

People who don't believe in a single doctrine are considered liberal. I guess these are the type of people who work in journalisn and media. Also, most people don't like to hear a single doctrine and thus are less likely to listen/watch conservative media.Toeing the party line is a communist idea.
Rupert Murdoch is extremely rich and FOX news channel is not going anywhere....your question is really stupid!

Liberals love America.

They do not want to run the "whole media." A large majority of the media in the US is run by 12 very large corporations.

Seems to me when the "fairness doctrine" was in effect we had very rational Congresses, where each member respected others.

Goldwater might not have had huge support, but he was liked, respected, and listened to by his colleagues.

Somewhere, sometime, as the Country moved to the Far Right, we picked up this hateful partisan rhetoric.

Hahaha. You're making a joke right? Yeah, liberals definitely have been running the media the last 7 years. Every time I turn on Fox News, I am amazed at the anti-Bush/anti-conservative rhetoric they spew forth.

lol...Older Bush got rid of the fairness doctrine, it used to be law. And the last time I checked Rupert Murdoch was buying up every media outlet possible, the latest being the wall street journal to turn it into Fox news nonsense. Sad but true,

Total garbage...

I don't remember anyone whining about the media during the unfortunate bush administration. Now that he has been exposed as a terrible president, now the media has a "liberal" bias.

Another example of not taking responsibility by the conservatives...and Limburger stinks...

There's no liberal conspiracy to take over the media, and most media is only marginally to the left. Fox, on the other hand, is so far to the right that it doesn't even represent moderate conservatives.

The fairness doctrine is a direct violation to the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. If it passed it should get shot down in the courts.

Ha ha ha...it was Reagan (the Conservative Hero) who got rid of the fairness doctrine.

There's no need for any legislation...here's how it stacks up...

Liberals control TV media (except for Fox News)

Pragmatists (with some serious left-leaning major newspapers) control print media

Conservatives control radio (talk radio) media.

It all washes out.
