No, they have no desire to give birth or breast feed.

Men have paternal instincts in that they may subconsciously want to imprint their offspring with their values, work ethic etc.

Smile. What some men have is called compassion and dedication to the well being of their family. When there is a situation where a man has to single handedly raise his children. He plays roles of both parents. It is a very hard job. May God bless these men in their noble task.

There are also gay couples with children. I would guess in this situation they do experience a maternal instinct.

When a child is being brought up by father and mother , the father will not have maternal instinct and it is very natural but in some cases where from the birth the child is being brought up by father ( from milk feeding to napkin changing) the father might get this instinct artificially ( basically it related to how the father is emotionally attached to the child)

My comment : You can not replace a mother with a father and vice versa

No, most men are very immatural. Nietzsche said that a real man wants only two things, danger and play, and he wants woman as his most dangerous plaything. I wonder about that some times. My wife of 41 years can be rather dangerous but she also lets me ride some of the fastest motorcycles in the world. Nietzsche never saw a Hyabusa or a Rocket 3. They are almost as good as sex and you don't need Viagra to go more than once.
Even when men raise their kids, they often want to be kids too. No, men want to be immaturnal forever.

NO!
What we have is paternal and trying to do a woman's role is detrimental to the child.
A woman has the maternal instinct. Leave it with them, they were born with it and have cultivated it all their lives.
For a man to try to mother a child is like trying to draw milk from a bull's teat!

Contrary to popular belief and stereotypes:

Children from single father homes are 90% more likely to stay out jail, get higher marks, have lifelong relationships, get better jobs, avoid drug and alcohal abuse.

Children from single mother homes make up 90% of our criminals, abusers, rapists, welfare cases, teen pregnancies, dead beat dads, killers, drug addics, prostitutes, and so forth.

Children from gay familes - I'm not really sure, but think growing up watching dad smoke, drink, or bang other guys in the butt might have a negative affect on impressionable children.
