I couldn't choose. I've worked with people who have both.
Alzheimer's can be frightening. You can forget who you are, where you are and what you're doing. I've seen a 70 year old woman cry hysterically because she couldn't find her "infant daughter" and that was really sad. The end stages are not pretty, physically, either.
Cancer is very brutal and I think people who have it, and die from it, suffer a lot. Many of them remain clear minded, however, and understand the process they are going through.
I wouldn't want either disease....I would think whichever one I had was the worst.

terminal cancer because cancer doesnt impair your mental functions. when you're dying of cancer you know you're dying of cancer. alzheimer's is kind in that the people that have it dont know there's anything wrong with them. people with end stage alzheimer's dont have any mental ability to recognize their body is dying. it's like being a newborn infant again. and yes alzheimer's does kill you.. unlike a another poster said you dont live with alzheimer's... it's very slow compared to cancer but ultimately alzheimer's does result in the person's death

Jeeze, I lost my mom to cancer and my great grandfather to Alzheimer's. I was close to them both.
Mom lost her battle to oral cancer after having her tongue and voice box removed (Don't smoke kids)
Papa died after several years of deterioration. He was amazingly fit, like Jack Lalane. He was in his 70's and died in his 80's. he spent so much time in a hospital bed in the last stages of the disease for years because he was in such great physical shape.
Ain't fate a b*tch
They are both wretched diseases in equal measures in my book.
Cancer can be successfully treated and people can resume their lives after cancer however there is not much of a treatment for Alzheimer's. Once you have it, it will eventually succumb to it

Alzheimer's Disease.... my father died from complications that come with it. My mother died from lung cancer....that's bad stuff. My mothers battle was hard for six months, but my dads battle was a hard 4 years. It's really sad to see someone deteriorate like that.

Cancer is usually quick to kill. Alzheimers is a slow and debilatating disease where the mind slowly dies and the body follows.
