why is gay marriage being banned from some states?
thats wrong to ban it in some of the states. this is a free country . they should have no right to ban it.
what do you think of gay marriage? do you think its wrong? if you do think its wrong please explain. i do not think gay marriage is wrong. people can love whoever they want. it should not matter with who the person they love is. god loves everyone. it may not be "natural" or whatever. but, its not wrong.

drtoolman - i am not christian. and no i do not beileve a man is head of household. a man and woman share the head of houshold. and no spanking children is not wrong. just as long as you not take it to the extreme.
god is supposed to love everyone . why should homosexuals be any different? and i beileve that the bible was created by someone and people read it to be comforted and to not be guilty about their "sins". i do not beileve in god or the bible. and i am not afraid to say that.

people like knowing they can control others. it makes them feel powerful. and thats why they are ignorant. you can get married 50 times as long as you are straight....and thats sacred how? exactly! its not. people pass judgment when its not their right too. if being gay is wrong (which its not) then gay people will have to face that when then die. the truth is some ignorant people just dont like people who aren't like them and thats why they use the bible because it covers up their homophobia. dumb people forget the bible was written by people and its just stories...the bible also says that people should have slaves but we dont have an uproar about that do we? times change so why cant we? chris rock said it best "Gay people have as much of a right to be miserable as everybody else!"

It won't be a "free country" for much longer at this rate. There are a lot more bans being placed because of judgemental people who think only they are right. Majority rules in this country. Don't get me wrong though I wouldn't want to live in any other country. I just don't like the government having the power to control gay marriage just because they believe God says its wrong. Give me a person who actually hears GOD say that, not just a bible wrote by man. Anyways I agree that it is wrong to ban the gay marriage.

The reasons for not allowing are multiple. I will address only from a political and government stand point. First tax codes. If you allow gay marriage a large portion of a higher paying tax group; single Americans will now have a reduced tax . Thus the government losses money, but will potential see an increased draw on resources. Next comes the issue of government services. Social security would have to redefine the definition of surviours and potential have a higher payout. Homosexuals especially men earn higher income , on average, thus are intitaled to higher social securty payments and so would their surving spouse.2: Health care plans insure signles and families. Gay families would have a different cost structure and requirment from the healthcare system. No one knows if this could lead to a demand for higher cost treatments for "lifestyle" deases. 3. Child custody/alomony , and child support guidleines woul all need to be reaaddressed by redifining of the marriage aggreement. Just a few thoughts on the many questions we must address when we redefine the legal term of marrage.

i totally agree. I mean, straight people can marry for looks or money, beat each other up, cheat on each other, get divorced, elope in Vegas for a weekend and have the marriage anulled come Monday, even marry someone they just met on a Reality Show and all of that is "OK" as long as they're straight. But if 2 people really love each other and are faithful and commited, but just happen to be the same gender, then the question of morals comes up. WTF!? You know? It seems pretty hypocritical to slam the gate in some people's faces if you're just going to let others crawl right under the fence. If they MUST ban Gay marriage, they could at least restrict it for everyone else and make sure that only people who SHOULD get married can get married. At least it would be more fair. But,really,i don't believe it's up to anyone to decide who a person can marry except that person. It's really stupid that it's the law, though, because i thought Church and State were supposed to be separate. Not that i have anything against Christians, though, because i'm sure some of them have their reasons to not believe in that and that's their right, but for every religious leader who's against it,there's one who's OK with it, but they can't perform Gay marriages if they wanted to. If it's a Religious matter,it should be up to each individual church/preacher to decide if they want to do it or not, but it shouldn't be up to George W or anyone else to decide that for EVERYONE. It is a free country after all; or at least i thought it was...

I agree, people shouldn't judge others because they have different tastes, plus everyone is different so what's the big deal? Plus if a person disagrees with who they like then that's their problem, but to NOT let them get married????? what the heck is THAT about? You are right, god loves anyone, no matter who they love. The idea of banning gay marriage is insane and stupid, what jerks.

I dont see why people who are against it let it bother them. There not hurting anybody, they just want to be married. I think people who are against it and have those bumper stickers that say, "man + woman = marriage" need to get a life.
& the person above me is a nut case..... abortion is a womans choice, gay people can get married in some states, and im white dating a black guy. =) & God still answers my prayers, were all his children.

I thought the exact the same thing but some one i knew didnt approve of it and the reason was because the U.S. is too immature. I thought about it and shes right. I do believe they should lets gays marry but some radicals may take it too far. People will be terrorized, hurt and even killed simply for being gay (as they sometimes are) but them getting married will draw more attention to themselves. Its sad and pathetic the way people will treat them for being gay.

At this point it isn't a matter of what I think is wrong and right. The sanctity of marriage doesn't exist anymore, so that arguement should be thrown out the window. I think if we are going to ban gay marriage based on Christianity, we should also ban interracial marriages, because versus in the bible can be argued to where they say that marrying someone outside your race is a sin. And, seriously, sanctity? Didn't Brittany Spears prove the sanctity of marriage with her 24 hour "just-for-being-drunk" marriage happened.

Although I am a christian, I believe that God created ALL forms of love, and gay and bisexual love is no exception. If they used God to say it is wrong, if he is really their main source of right and wrong, then they would know that God doesn't judge and neither should they because love is love, nothing more nothing less.

This whole bull crap about In God We Trust is stupid.. we should be able to believe what we want to believe, say what we want to say, pray if we want to pray and be gay if we want to be gay.. if we want to marry the same sex thats our choice... although the Bible does not condemn it it should still be a free choice. I agree banning gay marriage is stupid.. though I'm not gay I see no problem with it.
