About a month and a half ago I had some pretty strong Braxton Hicks contractions that sent me in to my doctor who checked me out for pre-term labor (I was at 29 weeks) and supposedly I was fine. Now I'm 35 weeks, 2 days short of 36 and I have been getting more and more Braxton Hicks over the course of the last two days. Last night in fact, I was woken up in such pain it was unbelievable. I know what real contractions feel like ( I have two children already) and I woke up upset because I felt like I was in active labor, serious serious back pain, pain all over my lower abdomen and shooting pain..uh...down there. I didn't want to fly out the door in the middle of the night and be wrong again so I got up and drank tons of water and moved around and after about an hour and a half they went away. WHAT is going on? I have about 4 weeks left...if these are truly just Braxton Hicks is this going to continue til the end? I don't want to go into "labor" what seems like 20 times!!!

just remember if your truly going in to labor the contractions will intensify, and moving and shifting your body will not change the contractions nor will they go away. i just had my third myself, you would think i would be an expert, but i found myself as well questioning this braxton hicks contractions, that continued and got stronger and stronger to the end of the pregnancy. try taking a nice warm bath. good luck to you!

I also suffered with painful hicks when I was expecting my first baby - it would literally take my breath away! Little did I know at the time, but these were actually minor contractions. They helped alot though as I was only in labour 5 hours :) Good luck and hope all goes well!

the more babies u have the more pain you get in later months as ur muscels have been put throu the paces, have nice warm baths do little walking to try encourage ur baby to move, and the pain should ease a little , i had the same as u with my 3rd, i was convinced i was in labour but wasnt. if the pains in crease to completely unbearable levels and start getting in regular pattern (every three minutes for a long time)then id say that was labour. so try not to get worked up. im sure ur baby is happy. use ladies have the bum end of the deal goings throu being pregnant and labour. but worth it in the end.i wish u the best of luck.

Drink lots of water everyday. Take it easy. Other than that, there's not much you can do. (except possibly take a Tylenol)
If you're really concerned, talk to the doctor. That's why you pay him 50 million dollars a baby. Make the dr EARN that money!

When my braxons hicks started to hurt, I would take extra calcium. They would not hurt any after that. You may be low on calcium. I took 2000 mg. per day.

Call ur hospitals OB/GYN floor and see what the nurses say. Whenever i have a question thats what I do and they always help! Meanwhile try a hot shower or bath and some tylenol.
