Regret is one thing a 40 year old man should never have. Write it down and burn it. Then get on with your life, sounds like yer dippin into the sauce with the rest of us.

I'm confused as to whom this is for. Is it your ex? Are you pining for your ex? What is it that you want exactly? Make that your starting point.
"I am lost. I can't think of anything else but having you in my life. You mean more to me than my own life."
If you made a mistake and feel bad, and you want her to forgive you, then say,
"I would do anything to deserve your forgiveness, but I can't blame you for how you feel toward me. I could never persuade you to forgive me because I don't deserve it. I was blind to how wrong I was. I took you for granted. I took for granted that I could live without you. I am half a man without you, and I suffer every day. I can barely breathe without you. I need to share every moment with you. But you are too good for me, and I am unworthy."
Figure out what you want and go from there. I have no idea how to help because I don't know what you want to accomplish.

My brother always thought about a cheerleader he dated. Ran into her after 30 years. She weighed 350 pounds. Went for a drink to reminisce. Man, she was a WACKO!
