People need explanations (a) because most haven't learned to live with uncertainty, admitting ignorance and (b) because we link effect with cause, and seek to understand cause so we can repeat pleasure and avoid pain (it doesn't always work, because causes are complex). So we invent religions and other belief systems - and pursue them beyond reason, long after experience and knowledge has shown them to be inappropriate.

This is quite an open question.
The world could use a good explanation for quite a few topics, cover ups, corruption, assassinations, so on.
But, like religion, we as a species frantically search for something to hold on to, thus we hold on to the belief that just maybe one day we will get an explanation for everything that has ever happened.
We plead for something to believe in, and at the same time, we plead for answers to questions we have been asking since we were born.

Wouldn't it be great if everything in the world came with a tag and told all about it and how to use it to your benefit? If that were the case than a baby would be born with a tag telling the parents what the baby will become and how to nurture it. Dogs would come with instructions and houses would come with tags saying "Neglect me." And the world would crumble because no one would do as they are told by the instructions.

Because explanation includes opinion. Each one of us can explain the world, but it would be peppered with opinions that we have about it, and everyone has to have an explanation about everything. :)

The universe revolves around the Earth. That is the truth. At least millions died over time believing that this was the truth. The truth, like the Twinkie, has an expiry date.
Explanations are rather pointless.

It all depends on how one defines the world and perceives it. Nothing is needed as long as one knows for sure where he stands. (eg. the world is round? person put to death for saying that! So which world are we talking of? Many similar examples are there...)

Because we are all just lost souls, searching for an answer to a question. What the question is , we are not sure... but we seek solace and closure in the prospect of an answer.

Because we are all sinners , in one way or another...
but, our hearts cry out for Love and in the end we
all want to be forgiven....
and want those close to us to be forgiven too...
so...remember this... " that God so loved the world ...
that He gave His only begotten Son, he that believes in this thought shall not perish but have everlasting
life!! You may accept this or not but the truth is we
are all going to Heaven!!!
think about it everyone you see is going! Act like it!

...to understand the process of how it works or how we think it works. Explanation requires some common ground so we can communicate effectively...
