Mix in a spray bottle:
1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) evaporates, and leaves no residue. It provides the base for an evaporating glass cleaner that stands strong next to any commercial glass cleaning product. You can use this window cleaning spray recipe to clean not only windows and glass, but mirrors, shine your chrome fixtures, and even on stainless steel

Windex contains ammonia, so you can just use ammonia and water like the person said. Vinegar and water is also a good glass cleaner.

1/3 cup vinegar to 1/2 gallon of water if the windows are greasy or have a film. The vinegar will cut through the grease. Just spray the mixture on and wait 15 seconds and then buff it off.
1 tbs. Dawn to 1 quart of water if the windows are dirty/dusty/muddy. This will be very soapy water. Get your cloth or sponge very wet and soap the windows thoroughly and then buff off. If the windows are extremely dirty, you will have to repeat the process.
Make sure to have a razor blade handy for paint spots.

1 cup rubbing alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
Using isopropyl alcohol and white vinegar together makes a quickly evaporating spray glass and mirror cleaner that competes with national brands. This can also be used to give a nice shine to hard tiles, chrome, and other surfaces.

Distilled vinegar works pretty good. You can put it in a sprayer and use it to clean windows with old newspapers. The old newspapers are more lint-free than paper towels.

Clean water. Put it on the glass and wipe it off with a dry cloth (or paper towel) before it evaporates.

rubbing alcohol works better than anything I have ever tried. Get a large bottle (walmart sells them) put a spray nozzle on it, and have at it.
You can pour it in a spray bottle clearly 'marked window /cleaner alcohol' too.
