why are you for the ban on gay marrage but you are against liberal social programs

i would think that the teachings of jesus would be for helping your fellow man

plus i thought you celibrated the free will god gave you so why would you limit the choises others can make?
if you really want to protect the santity of marrage why dont you try to get rid of the "no falt devorce"?

I recently moved down south from up north due to my job and this section of the country is mostly hypocrtiical.
The south has a higher rate of divorce than the north, a higher rate of unwed teen moms(like little 16 yeard old brittany who gets knocked up behind the local gas & gulp and then tries to tell me how to live my life through god!) But yet she gets born again and everything else from the past is erased?
The whole family values thing is a farce and a joke and a facade and a lure for the GOP to relly these sheep in to get their votes so then they can go and back theri rich banking friends to foreclose on a right wing wacko's home. The GOp will take their vote and then screw them in the end.
The whole religious right facade makes me sick sometimes.

Because Jesus believed that people should stand on their own two feet. He had no problem helping people that needed a helping hand, but Jesus never provided for a person for the rest of their lives. Even his disciples had to stand on their own through hard times. Like Peter's betrayal of Jesus. Peter had to find peace by himself.

The ban on gay marriage, look marriage is a religous ceremony. I don't know of any civilization that didn't have marriage performed through a religous ceremony. So, I think religous people have a point in saying marriage is on our terms. However, I have no problem with gay couples receiving the same benefits and rights of a hetero couple. Because those benefits and rights were not religously based, they were given by corporations and the government.

The teaching of Jesus encourages helping your fellow man but we feel that social programs do not help people. They enslave them in a never ending cycle of poverty.

If you want to check the facts you will find it is right wing Christians who perform most of the volunteer work. I guess libs think they just have to pay taxes and let someone else worry about it.

You have Free choice but if you make the wrong decision you will be judged by God. Homosexuality is a sin but God loves gay people he just hates their sin. It would go against the bible to endorse gay marriage.

In Oklahoma the Christains have been working hard to get the divorce laws changed.

Republicans are in favor of helping the poor. They usually give a lot more money to charities than Democrats do. But they want the charities to be well run, and the government does a bad job of running its social programs. A lot of time they do more bad than good, because they encourage bad behavior by rewarding it.

Also, the Bible is pretty clear that God is against homosexuality. Conservatives limit people's ability to make that choice for the same reason they limit people's ability to make the choice to murder someone. Because it's wrong. I suspect you'd agree with that.

Also, a lot of conservatives do want to get rid of no fault divorce.

Liberal Social Programs
I'm not against them entirely but I am against taking care of those who could and SHOULD be working and caring for themselves when they are able-bodied. I had disasbilities from Post Polio Syndrome but I worked until I practically fell on my face and had to retire. But then, I was taught to take pride in myself unlike so many on welfare today.

Divorce:
First of all, no-fault divorce isn't protecting the sanctity of marriage so where you got that idea, I don't have a clue. Distorted thinking. Men and women are making a mockery and distoring what marriage should be all about so let's put it on the right shoulders.

There is only one reason for divorce and that is adultery and the guilty party is not supposed to marry again OR, they commit adultery and so does their spouse.

Free Will:
You are also distorting the thought of "free will". Free will doesn't mean people can do just any thing they want to, it means we have the free will to make choices but we are supposed to be doing that within the guidelines of God's Word.

The Bible tells us clearly to help our fellow man but it does not mean people are to sit back on their butts and let others take care of them when they are able to care for themselves.

Don't be so hard on us for trying to follow God instead of man. Following man is what makes that path to hell so broad......

Thumper and Maxx P pretty much spelled it out. The liberal social programs are collossal failures and it is not helping to keep throwing money at them. The rite of marriage is between a man and a woman. If gays want to have "civil unions" fine, but the rights reserved for married couples does not extend to people who choose to live that lifestyle.

Both of your issues are mentioned in the Bible. The Bible says it is a sin for man to lay with man. Then there is the part in the Bible that tells about the Master who went on a trip and gave his servants talens to invest while he was gone. Read the Bible for yourself, its not hard to understand. God wants us to be the best we can be, not just lay back and wait for the government or someone to take care of us.

Jesus was'nt as tolerant as you Lefties would have us to believe, Jesus considers Sodomy a disgraceful sin, that's why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, there was complete chaos in the land there, because the people turned to VILE affections, the women with the women, and men with men,and He has told us in the book of Jude that those who suffered the punishment of Sodom and Gomorrah will serve as an example of those who will suffer the punishment of the Lake of Fire and Brimstone on the last day.

The thing is, God sent Jesus Christ, completely innocent of any sin, to die, a cruel, cruel death on an old rugged Cross for the Sins of all those who commit those acts of indecency, He loved mankind that much, and that's why He wants them to repent of their sin and serve Him with complete Love. To Love God, means that you will take it upon yourself to try and live by the words that He has commanded, Turn away from your sin and be found with Holiness and Righteousness, and One day when He comes again take you Home in Glory, where no suffering or tear dims the eye.
