Depending on the crime (say harming a child) it wouldn't be the law my friend needed to be worrying about. I don't think you should become a rat but it would be a good time to evaluate your friendship. I had friends that were murderers and because they found it within themselves to face their guilt and make what amends they could I did not hold it against them. Karma (like it or not) has a way of dealing with people that bring harm to the world. Your friend may not get caught for the crime but don't be surprised when a similar trespass happens to them. You might even want to tell them they had it coming when it does.

if the person had molested a child or raped someone, without a doubt i would because i wouldn't want him to have a chance to do it again!
