You couldn't be more in love with life. You've got tons of friends, you're rich, and smart. You see some of your so called "friends" picking on a depressed girl. They call her an ugly freak and other names. They leave and she pulls out a knife and is about to cut her wrist. You want to stop her, but some other friends come and take you to hang out somewhere. You try to tell them to let go, but they're all talking about the latest gossip. What would you do?

Is this a serious question?
Any decent person would have have stopped the "friends" from pushing the girl to the brink of suicide in the first place, not stood around watching from afar.
And then to not try and stop the girl slicing herself, because of the most pathetic excuse i've ever heard, is beyond disgraceful.

I would say that whoever was watching all this happen should be as ashamed of herself/himself as the idiots carrying out the bullying, for he or she is no better than them.

I would also say that the person is nowhere near as smart as he/she thinks, and is incredibly vain and self-obsessed.

Wondering why the depressed girl carries a knife? Isn' it against the rules? Anyway, I would tell my ex-friends to go on without me. They aren't worth being friends with if they could taunt the poor girl without any thoughts of how it would make her feel. They are cruel and I wonder why I couldn't have seen it before how they really were. There is one of those old sayings, "there, but for the grace of God, go I. So true. I would see what I could do to make life better for the poor girl. If it made me unpopular too, who cares? It doesn't really matter that much to me in the grand scheme of things..

Are you kidding? I hope this didn't really happen, because if your friends are more important than someone's life...stranger, or whoever...then you have a big character problem. And your friends aren't worth having. Think you already know that or you wouldn't be asking the question.

Quite often popular, rich, "smart"( maybe") people are also shallow, selfish, and uncaring about others. They aren't worth your time and "approval" because it really means nothing, and you will be the first one they turn on.

I would become part of the latest gossip by befriending the depressed girl and stopping her from cutting her wrist.

Let them talk - it doesnt bother me.

There is no question. I would ask my friends to go ahead and I will catch up later. And I would like to think that my friends would realize what was going on and stay around and forget about hanging out.

Do the right thing. But you shouldn't have let your friends pick on her in the first place. If you have a chance to do something and prevent it from happening, then go ahead and step in. We shouldn't tolerate some of our friends behaviors even if we are close to them.

I would tell my "friends" to get lost and be a friend to the girl who has been tortured instead of nurtured. I think it would take a very hard hearted and cruel and evil person to walk away and not reach out to help her.

if they are your TRUE friends they will back you up no matter what you do.and by the way i would stop her and ask what is wrong.and try to help even if i lost all the so-called friends i would gain 1 who will stick close to you like a sister which in my book is more valuable then Gold itself.use wisdom wisely.

You should try to stop the girl from cutting her wrist, but if she has a knife in your hand you should keep your distance.
