Can you get internet service through your cell phone company? You'd probably be better off performance wise on cell internet over a land line.

I would have to say no. I've never heard of a company that offers that option. If you're moving to the country, are you sure you have cell phone service out there? I've thought about ditching the ol' land line, but I've got small children and realized the only way they can call 911 is through a land line. Sorry, but I'm not buying cell phones for a 3 and 4 year old! HA!

You will need to get local phone service. I don't recommend trying to connect to the internet through your cellphone. I assume that your internet use will involve the use of a PC, laptop or desktop, right? If so, the cell phone is definitely out. Since you don't intend to use your landline service for voice, you can ask your phone service provider if they have data-only (data/fax) phone line service. They may or may not. Once you have your phone line service established, then you will need an economical ISP. You can get PeoplePC, Netzero, or Copper.net for about $8.95-$10.95 per month for "unlimited" service (basically 220-250 hours per month, that's about 7+ hours per day). I use Copper.net. They are great, in my book.
By the way, I live out in the "sticks" as well, far from any DSL or cable service provider. I once considered satellite/dish internet service through DirecTV or Dish Network, but it requires another sat dish, a special modem, and a cost of $79+ per month, in addition to the normal TV programming costs. It is not worth it to me.
Good luck!

The answer is "No." The term "dial-up" refers to the actual process of a modem acquiring a dial tone from a LANDLINE and then making a connection. This would be impossible to do without a phone line that produces a dial tone.

well, you can connect to the internet via bluetooth by using your cell phone, but i am guessing it's expensive. so dial up may be you only option here if cable nor DSL is avaialble in your city.
good luck.

you will need a dial up modem for one, then when you get to wherever it is your going to and get a isp you will have to connect everytime you go online using a dial up, the modem will dial the isp for you when you attempt to connect
