Why don't you ask your doctor who knows about your condition how to deal with the weight gain effectively as well as the depression. Being unfit when you're used to being very active must be difficult for you to deal with. Ask if there's a program he can suggest for you where you can tackle the weight problem and the depression in small, but effective, steps so that you can work your way back to the activities you used to enjoy. Be sure to ask if your condition will allow you to play netball or if you need to find another activity.
Good luck and God bless.

Difficulty keeping off weight is a common side effect of PCOS. It affects how your body handles insulin, some people find success managing their weight following a diet of foods low on the Glycemic Index. I posted a link below to some general info, there's tons out there if you spend some time Googling (is that a bad word on a Yahoo! site??).
As for activity - it's hard when you're already out of shape, but really the longer you stay inactive, the harder it becomes to get back into it. Don't expect to play at the same level you were after 12 straight years, but there's no reason you can't enjoy a sport you love at a slower pace. Or try something entirely different - just get doing something.
It's so much easier to get OUT of a routine than into one, but it's very much worth it (I'm working on this one myself!)

You have started the hard part by wanting to start. Start slow and easy. Take the steps/park farther away at the store. Then find some activites that you enjoy and use that as a start. AS for netball if you find it fun go for it. Take a break if it gets too much and do all you can and it will come back

Wow, that's sad news. Check back with the doctor. You can start slowly doing anything simple, like walking, a few sit ups, crunches, squats, push ups, jumping jacks (the basic). If you can, join a gym and get a personal trainer. It may be a mountain of a task, but the key is just to start doing something and then dedicate yourself to doing it and you'd get stronger and be able to do more. Good luck.
