conditions of living in newengland compared to chesapeake... defintely could be the healthcare and maybe the food they ate...

Do you mean during the 1600s and 1700s? Quite a few reasons, actually, the main one being the mosquito. Also, New Englanders ate lots more vegetables, the common pea being one example. These vegetables made for a much better diet than hogs in the Chesapeake Bay area.
