I have an optical mouse that is NOT cordless. I have a problem with it?

every so often the red light will turn off and the cursor will freeze on the screen. the red light will sometimes flash a bit. What is wrong with my mouse? If it is the laser, whats wrong with the laser?

Mice don't have lasers. They're infrared LEDs. The USB port it's plugged into might be shutting down. Try a different port. Find another mouse somewhere and see if it has the same trouble.

You can also go to Microsoft.com, and download Intellimouse 5.0. This might help, if it isn't a physical breakdown of your optical mouse.
