The first and most important answer is: customer service. Though they may do many things they all relate back to that. A counter person is expected to do a number of things: greet the customer, take their order in a timely manner or get them seated, also ring up their order and maybe get their drinks. At the same time the counter person is sending orders back to the kitchen making sure that drivers are checked in or a walk-in order is checked out. And they have to do it all with a smile and positive attitude. They are usually the first person a customer will talk to if there is an issue so you also have to have to be able to problem solve without having to go get a manager.
A importance of a good counter person cannot be stressed enough. They to a certain extent are the face of the company. Most management start out at the counter. Because if you can't handle the counter, you won't be able to handle the store. If you can't get your cash drawer safe, they're not going to give you keys to the safe.
One thing to do when you look for a job is to go scope out the place. There will obviously be differences in the job duties of chuck e cheese versus olive garden and if you can show that you grasp those nuanes at an interview it really gives you a leg up. And once you get the job, don't be afraid to ask a question twice if you don't understand. Management would rather spend a few extra minutes with you in training than have a horde of angry customers because you were embarrased to ask a question. So the answer is that they do a little bit of everything and interact with almost everyone.
Good luck with your Job Search...just the fact that you posted this question makes me think you'll be alright!

Pepper Market at Coronado Springs is meant to be very, very well. I have additionally heard well matters approximately Captain Cook's (Polynesian lodge), Boardwalk Bakery (Boardwalk lodge), and Beaches and Cream (Beach Club lodge). You too can use it for breakfast on the Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom, that is particularly scrumptious and a nice deal. They have those HUGE cinnamon rolls, and scrumptious croissant sandwiches, as good as different pastries and cereals.
