Well, what's your budget? I say get a MacBook Pro.
if you can't afford it, get a MacBook.

Just so you know, you're about to get a million people come and pounce on your question and say "MACS SUCK, GET A PC!"

That said, I'm a lifelong mac user, and I think they're great computers. I personally have an older generation G3 powerbook, but the new Macbooks are amazing. I just helped a friend get one online, and it's a really sweet computer. How much money are you looking to spend? I'll have a better idea of what sort of deal you can get if I know what your price range is. :)

By the way, I don't know why people think Macs are so hard to keep up to date. You certainly don't have to worry about virus protection and whatnot, and my own computer is an older generation and has never given me any problems at all. I upgraded the RAM a little, but you'll get that with any computer if you want to...

If you buy an apple buy the absolute newest, most up to date model. They go obsolete so quick and unlike PCs there really aren't 3rd party apple part makers so your stuck buying overly expensive apple made products. At the school where I work out of the 20 two year old OS X iBooks we bought only 9 still function without replacement parts or upgrades. At the time we purchased them they were the top of the apple laptop line.

The new Intel Macs are pretty good. I use a Macbook pro with Windows added to a second partition. OSX is a way better OS than Windows, but there are still lots of things only Windows can do.

Hello vitaminpink,

For the majority of people, a MacBook is perfect for them. If you want to work with video, music or highly graphics types of things then the MacBook Pro might be more for you, but it's not really necessary.

Check out the Apple web site to read up on it:

Congratulations on your getting a new Macintosh. I hope that you'll enjoy yours, as I have enjoyed my old Titanium PowerBook. Best of luck to you.

I love MACs..so i would recommend them. However, i would not get a laptop, i'd get an imac.. They are great and have a lot more memory. If you are student or teacher u can even get a discount. If you decide to get a laptop get their lates one which means you can even choose a color of ur liking.
