If the person taking your order is very kind and curtious than I would tip. If not, I wouldn't. Dont feel like you have to tip just because they are watching. A tip should be earned. Also, if you dont want to tip, make sure you put a line through the tip place, I have been to a place that charged me for a tip before that I did not authorize so putting a line there prevents that.

Hola, Raul.

There are two kinds of "counter help". The ones who take your order in places such as Mikey D's or Wendy's and the ones like the bartender when you sit at a restaurant's bar.

The guy behind the counter at Mickey D's turns around and grabs the things you order after the guy behind the grill passes it over the back counter to him. You don't have to tip this guy if you don't want to, and that's quite okay.

Now, the bartender in most cases has to run into the kitchen, miss tips from other customers while he puts in your order, come back, get you your drink, talk to you about your problems if you want to share them with him, stop listening, serve someone else, stop serving them, go back to the kitchen, miss some more tips, bring your food, let you eat, after you're done eating, stick around and listen to more of your problems probably until the bar closes cause by this point you're drunk out of your mind... I could go on and on, TIP THAT GUY! Whew!

You really do not need to worry about it. I've worked at several restaurants and all credit card machines will print that space for tips. It is totally up to you to decide whether or not the person taking your order deserves a tip. I personally never tip at fast food restaurants. Hope I helped!

For the fast food place, no I wouldnt tip. I did work at a restaurant though, and you are expected to tip for a to go order. You didnt get served, but someone put took that order for you, made sure it was right, and made sure everything was in the bag before giving it to you. Always tip at LEAST a dollar for a to go order at any restaurant! More if it is a huge order, or had a lot of special orders.

You tip for service. You don't tip because someone tells you to. Just become someone hands you a bag with food in it, you don't have to tip. And no, you never tip to go orders, even at a fancy restaurant. If you tip there, you might as well tip at Wendy's.

Tipping has got out of hand. Evenone wants a tip so they can go out and by the newest iPhone. Just because someone wants you to hand them money doesn't mean you have to. They ARE paid for their work.

The register tape is just standard. If someone did not do any service, you do not have to tip. Put a 0 in the amount of tip and rewrite total.

Those receipt printers are standard. They print that line because they are for a universal use. You don't have to tip. I have seen tip lines at fast food restaurants like Wendy's. If you didn't get servered by a waiter/waitress, no need to tip.

no way dude. if you feel you dont need to tip a service then dont. dont let other people pressure you. but one good tip I will leave you is never leave that line blank. If your not gonna tip then put 0 with a line through it. Because you never know when someone is gonna help themself to a beautiful tip on you that night. think about it.

Just draw a squiggly line above the tip line and re-write the total.

I don't think you should feel obligated to tip for to go orders and especially not when it's a situation like you described. I think people go too far sometimes.
