Local pet stores sell only red-eared sliders or tortoises and I am looking for box turtles.

Box Turtles really don't need or want cagemates. If the habitat is big enough, it will tolerate one- but even in the wild they are pretty solitary animals and do not share space well.

they really are solitary animals but if u want you would have to go to a pet store like petco but they do a bad job with reptile :(
