some have a big gush, others have a trickle
the night after i was due i went to the bathroom before bed, i thought i was done peeing but kept hearing a trickle, i figured the baby most have been putting a lot of pressure on my bladder. the next morning i woke up and the same thing happened again except this time i stood up and there was a huge gush of water all over the floor. i guess it had sprung a leak the night before but i didn't even realize.

I thought the same thing too and I would have a lot of clear kind of watery discharge but it wasn't my water breaking. Then when I was just getting out of bed I put my foot on the ground and a big gush came out so I knew for sure. Some people do not gush though but there is A LOT of water and it goes down and continues for a while, well, at least in my case and many others. Just don't think about it too much and then the surprise will come :) Congratz

Well, here's the funny on that. It keeps rejuvianting itself so it just keeps coming. I would sit for a few and get up and oops! There's more! I was almost 40 weeks and thought I had peed myself. I changed my pajama's and went back to bed... but when I sat on the edge of the bed to get into it I peed myself a little bit again. So I waddled back to the toilet and tried to pee more. Not until I rose did I pee alittle bit. This time by the time I got abck to bed it was trickleing down my legs and I could not write it off as pee any longer. Nothing gushed out for about 45 minutes (when I was on my way to the car no less). Bottom line is you will know- try not to worry. It may only ever trickle- but it's an involuntary trickle. If you don't catch it immedietly you will soon just by the consitency of it! Congratulations!

you will know when your water break trust me. you would have a big clear gush of water come out unless the baby had bowel movement in there then the water wouldn't be clear. But if you keep leaking clear fluids then your water did break and you would start having contractions has well. If you were laying bed and your water break and you have a gush then the whole bed mattress would be wet like with my first pregnancy.

It's not a lot of water. A lot of women think it's just bladder issues. Sometimes it won't even break until you're actually in labor or sometimes it happens right before going into labor. It depends on the person. But you'll definitely notice.

Believe me hon, you'll know. But sometimes your water doesn't always break. With my first 2, the doctor had to break it for me. But sometimes, it is a slow leak. The best way to describe it is this (it's gross, but true): if you feel wet down there, put a maxipad in, wait an hour, check it to see if it's wet and if it smells sweet. My mother in law, who's a maternity nurse told me that.

You will know. Its a gush.
However, it can also leak. But at 39 weeks, I think the pressure would break the leak pretty quick.

You cant be unaware when it happens. Its a hot gush of water. Not painful but enough to soak the entire bed. Dont worry. All the Best.

It all depends,it's different with everyone. My eldest sister gushed when her water broke where my other sister just trickled but she knew her water had broken cause although not much came out she felt it break.
Good luck and congratulations.

first child i got a leaking with every contraction, second child lying in bed, and it felt just like a water balloon breaking between my legs, pop, and then gush, i soaked the bed.
if you are leaking and don't know if it is amnioctic fluid or urine just go to the hospital, they will test it with a little strip to tell you of it is "your water" or just pee
and don't be afraid to just go in. they know that moms can be nervous and it is better to go and come home then to not go and just worry
