People "openly" smoke it and grow it here allllll the time...We have stores that sell bongs, and all sorts of other pot paraphernalia ect ect
I've often sat downtown and had people walk by smoking it...the police really don't seem to care as long as you're not growing and/or trafficking....

Why do you ask?? lol

No it is NOT legal. If you have an exemption for medical marijuana you may have some in your possession providing you have ALL the paperwork. If you do not..no matter WHAT amount you have, you can be subject to Criminal Code offence charges. AS a rule of thumb..the courts have been somewhat lenient in sentencing first time offenders with no more than enough for a single joint.

It is NOT legal in any province in Canada, and no province can declare it so. It is a drug which is under FEDERAL jurisdiction..a CRIMINAL code offence. Convictions can range from fines and community service to jail time.

Sheesh.

No. Pot is a crime in Canada, and BC is part of Canada and has the same laws as the rest of Canada. Police in certain parts of BC "may" from time to time turn their back to minor pot crimes if the people are otherwise keeping their noses clean and keeping to themselves. But carrying too much or something like caught driving impaired and you will be charged.
