This could be a signal for a multitude of problems including, eye infection, upper respiratory infection, vitamin A deficiency etc. Without actually seeing the turtle and it's habitat, it's impossible make a call. Lack of appetite is usually a sign of something serious. I would advise a quick trip to a reptile vet.
Best of luck,
Jen

This sounds like it needs rather urgent attention. If you are not going to take it to the vet. Start w/ sulfa dip that should help treat the eye swelling, as with all reptiles a full spectrum light bulb is a must, they need like anything else certain light to get the vitamins they need. Clean water, but strongly chlorinated water is no good, change it daily or get a charcoal filter. Use a good food for it we use Nature Zone aquatic turtle bites and a few feeder guppies every now and then. Good luck.

Besides the other advice I would also say to make sure the Turtle has a warm, dry basking spot and make sure the water is warm enough. A little extra warmth can help support them when they are ill. Clean the entire tank also.

Baby Turtles are delicate animals. They need plenty of UV as well as warmth. They also need a good diet.

I hope it recovers. Find a reptile vet in your area or at least a Turtle club or reptile society to ask them for help.

How old is he and how long precisely have you ever've him? What variety is he. in case you purely have been given him interior the final couple of days, then he could purely be adjusting to a clean atmosphere, determine his water is heat adequate for his breed and attempt yet another nutrients (like krill). although, if he's a Slider, they do no longer eat this time of three hundred and sixty 5 days, so as that's no longer a huge project, the no longer establishing the eyes can recommend worry tho. wish the little guy gets extra helpful, I easily have 8 turtles, diverse species, great pets!

Eye infections are usually a diet problem, infection, or dirty water/poor habitat problem.

The first thing you need to do is to review your basic cares and diet at a site like http://www.redearslider.com and see what you need to adjust. That will usually fix the problem.

and your question is......? sounds like your turtle is sick, maybe suffering an eye infection from an unclean water environment. sickness causes a loss of appetite also. you should get your poor turtle some help.
