this is my question :The physician prescribes 2g of MedA and on hand you have MedA in 500mg tablets. How many tablets do you give
the patient?
Answer: 4 tablets of MedA
Explanation:
Begin by converting 2g of MedA into milligrams
• 1 gram = 1000 milligrams, therefore 2 grams = 2000 milligrams
Divide the converted dosage based on the tablets on hand
• 2000 milligrams / 500 milligrams = 4 tablets.....

I need to see the mathematics conversions to see it and understand it

1mg = .001g or 1/1000

The way to set these types of problems up is to to take the 500mg and multiply it so that the units of mg will cancel out leaving only g. We know from above that 1g/1000mg = 1 and one times anything remains the same, so we can multiply 500mg*(1g/1000mg) which does not change the value. Since mg is in the numerator and denominator they will cancel out. We will now have:

500g/1000 =0.5g

1 gram(g) = 1000 milligram(mg)

500mg
= 500mg / 1000
= 0.5g

0.5 grams

Equation:
1) Know that 1g = 1000mg
2) by process of conversion and cancellation, we have the solution as:

1g x 500mg = 0.5 g
-------
1000mg

3) this equation can be used in other conversions

One gram = 1000 milligram
So, to convert mg to gm, the milligram should be devided by 1000. Here in this case,
500 mg / 1000 mg = 0.5 gram...Ans.
