I was at work. The floor super told us that there was an accident in New York City, then all hell broke loose. I was wondering if I was going to be recalled to active duty after having been out of the USAF for about 2 years.

The very second I heard of 9/11 I was coming out of a car wash preparing for work in Las Vegas Nevada, at around 7am or so. When a guy told me a plane had flown into the world trade centre, I knew that it was no accident straight away. It was a horrible and eerie day.

Was at work when my supervisor called me into his office and told me about the first plane. We had just been discussing what a doofus the pilot had to have been to collide with the WTC when news of the second collision came over the radio. At that point, we knew something was seriously amiss and when the Pentagon was hit, then we knew we were under attack. I remember JFK's assassination, the Challenger, the fall of Saigon and the first moon walk, but nothing impacted me like 9-11 did.

Yes, I do remember where I was when the September 11th, 2001 attacks happened. I was a Sophomore in high school. I was in my art class and my teacher came in and turned on the television. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Driving my daughter to school in Camarillo, California. Heard something somber on the radio, vaguely about planes that crashed and killed a lot of people, unclear why it happened, but I knew these crashes into large buildings were not the type of crash that happens by accident, especially 3 of them. It seemed like war to me, only nobody had declared war on us, and nobody was taking responsibility for it either, as they often do in terrorist attacks worldwide. My daughter's school got the conventional wisdom pretty quick; we were at war, but not with a country; we were at war with terrorism. I made my daughter watch the President's speech that night (it was history, after all) but she found the subject so distasteful that she, for the first time, took my pet cockroach out of its cage to play with it to distract her. I guess even a cockroach is better than a terrorist attack....

yup. I had just got up to get ready for school (i live on the west coast) when I heard it on TV. I couldn't believe it! It felt like a dream, I couldn't believe it was happening to NY city. It was a scary feeling, I didn't feel safe. Then I remember going to school and everyone talking about it. It was a depressing day I must say. Seeing such huge buildings getting hit by planes.

I was alone in my car, going to work. The news reports were very sketchy and only one of the planes had hit. Then, when they announced that another had hit the other tower, I kind of felt like the people who heard "War of the Worlds" on the radio must have felt. It was surreal.

I heard about it 2 hrs later after the towers fell..I was riding a bike to work and of course no radio...and met up with people at the donut shop who were quiet and staring in disbelief as to what had happend.
I felt as though I was the only one who didn't hear or see what happened as it was happening.

I was sitting at my desk at work---the lady sitting next to me had a tiny tv that she watched while she "worked" and was watching when they broke in with the news of the first plane hitting... suddenly there were like 40 of us crowded around her to watch this tiny 2 inch screen on her little set... radios started turning on all over the building ... I worked for the State of New York at the time and we had an office in the WTC where 40 people were killed that day...some of whom I KNEW... it was a VERY sad day for my department AND for my state and the City of New York...
