Hey fashionchick,
A very nice, playful, friendly turtle would be a red eared slider but many people buy the without know how big they would grow, red eared sliders are one of the best turtles you can have as a pet and they are very cute but they can be a problem when they are 1ft... well... its not that complicated but u have to know that they do grow into 1 ft and must be prepare apart from that they are cheap but preparing the sutible tank for them might cost 150-200$ but you will be rewarded in the end with cute pets!!

What kind of turtle are you looking for? Keep in mind that some turtles live over 100 years and grow very big. I wouldn't advise getting a turtle without at least a year of research first.

A really good pet turtle is a red eared slider, they are very common and most all pet stores sell them. They are quite easy to care for and are fun to watch!

go to exotic pets and read on the different turtles, what supplies you need, how big they get, what they eat, etc., than you can go to reptile auction and they usually have baby turtles for sale for a decent price.

it is untrue that turtles are boring pets and they are not active. perhaps she is thinking of tortoises. aquatic turtles are always swimming, i have 2 red eared sliders and a mississippi map turtle and they never stop swimming and are always excited to see me. the little one starts swimming at me so fast he splashes me in the face, they eat live crickets too so its fun to watch them chase the crickets down. I would definitely recommend a red eared slider, they are the most common turtle choice but be prepared to spend a hundred bux min to get all the proper equipment.

is a great webstie that has amazing caresheets that tell the exact diet of what youre getting all the way to the exact size of enclosure youll need and what you need for it. turtles are expensive...tortoises are worse. all require uvb and uva lighitng, heating, strict diet as not to beome obsese. i dont know if this is your first reptile...but id suggest a leopard gecko if it is... no uvb required!!
